The above recommendations are great, just for completeness, Frost Town Brewing is walkable from Minute Maid

I wasn't particularly impressed on my visit, but there you go.

Highly recommend Saint Arnold, Equal Parts, and True Anomaly. All of those are great and relatively close.

Downtown has a bunch of cool dive bars and cocktail places if you are interested in that.

La Carafe, oldest building and bar in Houston. Cash only, will have Yellow Rose on tap.
Warren's Inn, strongest Martini ha, a few locals on tap.
Houston Watch Company, great cocktail bar, plenty of local beers on tap
Flying Saucer, probably the only true beer bar left in downtown.
Captain Foxheart's Bad New Bar (just love that name ha), kind of a hidden bar with no sign out front. Have to find the door to some law offices, and walk up on Main St. Its like going back in time. Just does cocktails though.

Skip TexMex and get Texas BBQ… Truth or Pinkertons would be my top choices.

beernear downtown… Equal Parts, True Anomaly, Eighth Wonder

Houston is a fun town, walkable, friendly, with a rich, uniquely American history. Here's the results:
Breweries visited: True Anomaly and Urban South.
Restaurants: Xochi, Kau Ba Saigon Kitchen, Travelers Table, Killen's BBQ (Minute Maid Park) and Ninfas Original.
Tourist stuff: Buffalo Bayou park and Cistern, Minute Maid Park (awesome baseball stadium!), Sam Houston Park. Concert at the HoB (They Might be Giants). Also walked miles through downtown and along the Buffalo Bayou Park trails.
Beers: TA's Second Stage (Wild Ale) and Densified Propellant (Stout), Urban South's BBA Stouts (Midnight Snax, Pecan Sandies and Slumber Party) and Lone Pint Brewery's Yellow Rose were my favorites.
I tried Karbach brewing, 8th Wonder, Eureka Heights, Golden Road, Saint Arnold brews as well.
I had grand plans to hit a couple more breweries but for a 3 day trip with a wife who doesn't drink, I think I didn't do too bad. The information provided by this group was vital and I appreciate everyone's input.

Looks like you did good on the food, and yes I always have big plans on hitting up breweries when I get out of town, but when wife is with me (wine only and not much of a day drinker) it usually never happens. I went to Birmingham Al one July 4th weekend after dropping my wife and her sister off on the beach to hang with her cousins. I literally hit every brewery in that town twice over a 3 day period with most of it walking. I enjoyed the shit out of that town. One nite I ended up at J Clyde's (now closed) and they had like 12 taps of BA stouts. I think I did 2 sets of tasters and was bouncing off the walls walking back to my hotel. Oh how bad I felt the next morning, but hey, that is what waffle house is for.
