It's a scorcher today, rare appearance for AC at home. We are in the season.

Well said, I’ve never forgotten about them, and while their lyrics were very much deeply troubled (wars, terrorism, death) they were from a certain era, late 80s to early 90s that weren’t necessarily prettier than now thirty more years later.

Depicting this troubled world in awesome riffs and drums? Count me in. Bought that album back in the mid-90s and have long lost it since, whatever thanks to YouTube.

Drinking a new style to me courtesy of @ChicagoJ - Grodziskie style ale by Dovetail Brewery, Chicago, IL:

Postimage still down here. An odd to me beer, it smells and tastes like a ham sandwich with a squeeze of lemon on it. Thanks Jason for the new beer style tic. Cheers y’all

Arise was my introduction to "heavier" metal, and it blew me away. I really didn't recognize the Brazilian sociopolitical angst until Chaos AD - but once I did, it really opened my eyes, in a way that Rage Against the Machine did for the next generation.

Imagine if we had an Argentinian metal or punk band from the '80s, and the kind of shit they would have written about. :no_mouth:

Well, if I have to sit in my home office doing busy corporate paperwork stuff, why not make it count?

Ah! I certainly don’t want to upset our fine British members reading (@Dethark @EmperorBevis) about the Falkland war. They won it… nothing to be upset about, plus Brits are laid back and badass. Clue? They gave us James Bond.

    Hello BAs!

Tomorrow is race #4 of 7 for me on the USATF New England Mountain Running Circuit.

Headed to VT for the Ascutney Mountain Run

This one's the last to feature a paved mountain road, and the most similar to Mt. Washington Auto Road.

Enjoying this early beer - a delicious collab before early dinner (raviolis with my Mom's sauce & meatballs).

I was thinking less Falklands, and more the Argentinian junta that took power in the '70s, and the subsequent World Cup that took place while they were "disappearing" "undesirables" and literally helicoptering bodies into the Atlantic while the World Cup was happening.

The angst in Argentina in the '80s had to be something to behold, but we have precious little evidence in the public consciousness about it - but again, I can't imagine there wasn't a very strong grass roots level of unease and upset more than comparable to what was happening in Brazil at the time. The second most notable band from the time, Sarcafago, was also Brazilian. If Sepultura could sound that angry in the '90s, imagine what could have emerged from Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua ...

There's a lot of untapped rage there, and nothing fuels metal more than depression, anger, and rage, especially at the powers that be.

Cellarmaker Wild Gooseberry Chase Hazy West Coast IPA (100% Nelson). My first time trying Cellarmaker and it does not disappoint. My favorite IPA's recently are New England/west coast hybrids and these guys have been perfecting this "style" for a while now from what I hear. It certainly shows. I also haven't had a proper Nelson beer in some time. This scratches all of those itches.
Getting loads of the obvious gooseberry and white grape character, along with diesely cannabis, passionfruit, pink grapefruit, pineapple, and earthiness. Soft, yet slightly crisp feel. Little chalky, but still drinks dry and clean with a nice bitterness. I feel this one would get the approval of @TheIPAHunter. It certainly gets mine. One of the better IPA's I've had in recent memory.

Part of a mixed 12 pack, another nice summer beer with a fairly low ABV (4.5%).

It's all good, A little before my time although I do work with several people who served and fought in the Falklands, most of which are very laid back about it and hold no animosity.

That's the only beer I've had from Off Color. It was present one day during one of my infrequent pop-ins to one of the local Total Wines. Haven't seen it since.

No problem, and sorry @Roguer for misunderstanding your point. I was once a soldier more than twenty years ago and already knew people who fought or served as peacekeepers in Kosovo, previously in Bosnia or even Lebanon during the civil war. Can’t name every single war. Those that served in Algeria are now dropping off… but generally speaking anyone who’s been involved in a conflict is quiet about it later on.
