Nightmare Brewing (Bay Shore, NY) - Agam Kuan. 15.6% abv Imperial Stout brewed with Masala Chai, Jaggery, Tea, and Vanilla.

Just one man's opinion, but I'd recommend you

 

I had a 2016 a couple years ago and it was really good. Not sweet at all. How’s it tasting 7 years after release?

 

I got it on Tavour. The coconut is the only version if this I didn’t like. OG and Vanilla were very enjoyable.

 

I drink Impy stouts all year, love 'em all, except those with added junk......I do like the new Dragon's Milk labels, not to much the Founders labels.....I know ya didn't ask, just my $.02

 

Boulevard Maple Mood BBA Imperial Stout, 12.5% ABV. I rated this 4.48.

Cookie day at the bbtkd household. My daughter is making us some chewy chocolate-chip cookies.

 

Second to last 2020, these are holding up remarkably well. My second ridiculous bargain of the evening.

 

Whoof, this one was special.

Rye Assassin Double Barrel - Toppling Goliath

Viscous, but not overly heavy pour on this. Lazy beige head rises on a hard pour, but it quickly settles into the beer.

Toffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla on the nose initially; hints of smoke and raisin after a few minutes in the glass. There’s the slightest touch of astringent sharpness that quickly recedes but adds another layer of complexity.

The palate features over-baked brownie, caramel syrup, Raisinet candy, and rye spice throughout. Hints of cocoa powder interplay with stewed dark fruit on the mid-palate, and it finishes comfortably warm with trails of burnt caramel and vanilla wafers.

Not overly syrupy or heavy, with a noticeable carbonation to offset and balance the ethanol warmth that lingers into the finish.

 

Brings to mind a vertical we did with BCBS for SAN one month. 2017 - 2021. What struck me was how much they tasted the same. Virtually no drop off at all. Impressive.

 

From my personal "Library Box" collection, this refrigerated since 10/1/19 vintage is still doing well, though starting to get light pepper notes, coffee more chill vs. a fresher version. Enjoying as always.

Some light boozing for this humid Monday evening. Bourbon brownie batter with layers of vanilla throughout. Incredibly balanced. The vanilla is a supporting character in this and allows the base stout to be the star. Barrel presents beautifully and pulls it altogether with a nice warming finish. Cheers everybody!

Had some trepidation but this really works. The currants are prominent, slightly tart and berry like, coming across as juicy and genuine. They allow a little room for lightly boozy, decadently chocolatey base stout to peek through, but this very fruit forward. Another fantastic offering from Revolution.
