    Waiting for a chicken fillet with fries but before that was thirsty. Don’t even know what beer I am drinking. While very much kind and helpful, not every waiter/waitress or local here can speak English, much less French. I assume it to be a fine Lager from España.

    Is air conditioning common in the Netherlands? I don’t think it exists in France (sarcasm). Mrs. Raul hates it. She’ll tell me to open a window instead. That said, here in Southern California, damn near every building has it and puts it to good use. Cheers.

    Pale yellow, cloudy body; thick and billowy white head; rocky; sticky spidery webs of foam adhere to the glass. Wonderfully fresh citrus smell; lime; tropical fruit; pineapple. orange, papaya. Excellent flavor; mild biscuit-like base; strong bitterness cuts through the tropical fruit sweetness. Heavy body; slightly coarse; acidic.

    A nice, well-rounded hazy double India pale ale.

    1) New Glarus Pilsner (unknown ABV): A German Pils from Wisconsin with flavors of lemon citrus, flower, and yeast and pale malts. Clean.
    versus
    2) WarPigs A Light in the Black (5.4%): A German Pils from Indiana with flavors of floral hops, bready yeast, and a big, bitter finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) WarPigs A Light in the Black:     Midwest German Pilsner Battle. A newer Pils from New Glarus which is well-done. Citrusy, floral, and extremely clean. WarPigs is stunning though. Big, yeasty, and extremely bitter. Sort of like the WCIPAs of German Pilsners. Big, bitter and underrated for a German Pilsner.

    Another long drive so far today…had to stop at a favorite brewery, Day 45 of the journey, brewery 53/different brewery 52, Jackie O’s, trying a flight:

    The Omission of Logic, BBA Imperial Porter rested on pecans, vanilla beans and cinnamon was my favorite and is world class! A recent release. I’ll grab some bottles to go for sharing.

    Another 1 1/2 hours drive to my house in WV…save my seat, I’ll be back tonight. Cheers from Athens, OH!
