    Hey BA's

Just made a quick trip to one of the few local stores that carries Anchor Steam - I bought 2 sixer's (only 3 on the cooler shelf), as I am not sure how long it wlll be around these days....

Tasty as always - bummed about the recent Anchor news, and not being able to get this iconic brew outside of CA soon....that really sucks

I have tons of Anchor glassware, t-shirts, openers, tin tacker etc - big fan

I will most likely visit the brewery or at least Public Taps across the street in SF, during a planned August visit....may have to bring home some Old Foghorn and Liberty Ale for old times sake....

...ordered a new bicycle today as the old Trek 7200 has a hole in the down tube...I'd hate to be pushing 30 MPH downhill and have a catastrophic frame failure...replacing it with a Trek FX 2...should have it in about 7-10 days...

I hope to get up there this summer when I go to my 10 acre lot outside Beaver Bay. What a awesome drive! I really like this IPA.

    1) BlackStack Thatz Bier (4.4%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of purple grape, orchardfruit, citrus. Munich malts and a light, fruity finish.
    versus
    2) Fair State Köld (4.7%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of vinous, citrus, and orchard-fruit yeast flavors atop a pale malt body. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) BalckStack Thatz Bier:
Minnesota Kölsch Battle. New one from Fair State this year and it's excellent. Light fruity, yeasty, and soft bread malts. Probably the best Kölsch I've had this year, until today. I remember BlackStack makes a quality one here and this is really good. Fair State has more yeast and bread malts, but BlackStacks is slightly more fruity and flavorful. Hard style to get right and both are well-done.

    1) Eagle Park Joint (8.0% canned 4/6/23): A NEIPA from Wisconsin with Citra, Mosaic, Columbus, Eureka for flavors of citrus, tangerine, mango, stonefruit, resinous pine.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher All Sides Are Green (8.5% canned 3/7/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Nelson Simcoe Riwaka for flavors of grapefruit, papaya, melon, with a sweet overripe berries. (Correctly matched the two blind)

    Winner:
    1) Eagle Park Joint:
Green NEIPA battle. Pretty slow on here so I'm up again. Hop Butcher makes some killer NEIPAs but less than impressed by this one. Big, sweet, and shows the alcohol at 8.5%. Maybe showing some age. Not very drinkable or balanced. First try at this one from Eagle Park which is a collab with 1840 Brewing which has a good reputation out of Milwaukee. It's got green citrus, pineapple with dank pine component. Classic Eagle Park IPA creamy malt body. Smooth and creamy beats out the bitterness and pine. Nice tropical Mosaic balanced by the Eureka for bitterness. Great name for a smooth NEIPA with a light pine bite. Again, good stuff from Eagle Park and 1840.
