Imperial Stout Appreciation Thread (2023)

Happy that yours held up. Last week I had my last bottle and mouthfeel/carbonation were underwhelming though it still tasted better than many stouts.

 

White Elm ¡Cocorrado! BBA imperial Stout with coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla,
13% ABV. I rated this 4.31.

It really chaps my hide that Alesmith is pulling out of Michigan, or at least minimizing their presence. Speedway is such a solid beer that I made it one of the regular cellar denizens (TenFidy is the other non Michigan with that “honor”)
So not only do we not get Speedway anymore but I have to watch variants coming across the screen and just be jealous.
Oh well. I guess I should learn to appreciate them vicariously through you guys. More details please!

 

I suspect we'll be swapping some stouts on a semi regular basis. Appreciate you man!

 

i quite enjoyed this one. didn’t get a ton of coconut which i’m fine with. the coffee, vanilla and barrels worked well together and the base is chocolate/roast forward and that also worked really well.

White Elm BBA Champurrado Imperial Stout, 13% ABV. I rated this 4.23 the first time, just increased it to 4.38.

This has been in my cellar for 5 months. As I was pouring it, I noted it says "Keep cold". Oh well, hasn't killed me so far. If anything, it's improved, with really strong cocoa flavor no vegetal pepper taste this time.

 

I love that two years ago this beer was an enigma to me. Now it sits on the shelves. Hopefully they keep sending it out here!

 

However, Tomas has Firestone Walker a train ride away and i thought it would be appropriate to toast him with PNC2021 acquired via trade last December. Awesome brew @Resistance88, rated it a 4.56. Love the heavily roasted malts and the impartation of three types of barrels over 2 years.

Drinking a growler of Abandon Brewing (Penn Yan, NY) - Raspberry Imperial Stout. Just a touch of tart fruitiness to complement the dark chocolate flavors. But not sweet.

 

Easy to find in the Lancaster area!
