Yeah, it’s peachy all right! Thanks to @Hinda65 for reminding me to get back to this series. This is definitely a brunch beer. And happy to report that it goes well with a quiet Sunday afternoon too. The buttery mouthfeel is spot on. I called it gossamer silk, but soft butter is more accurate as it leaves a thin coating on the tongue.

La Trappe Quadrupel, on draft and in incredibly sexy proper glassware.

Green raisin, caramel, leather & date. Huge nose, smooth mouthfeel.

    Damn near perfect.

This is probably my favorite, tied with Straffe Hendrik quad.

Plain Jane Duvel. What a beer still. It’s been their most known and maybe still is most consumed from their portfolio at Duvel-Moortgat.

What can I say? In the Belgian strong pale ale style, it should be easily in the top 5 at least.

Delirium Tremens and la Chouffe Blonde, plenty others are outstanding too. This beer must be one of the most renowned and rightly so around the world. Top tier.

    Santé!

Saxo, a Belgian Strong Golden Ale from Caracole. Both brewery and beer are new to me.

Pretty muted on the banana & caramel notes, with an earthy, almost ashy clove finish.

While it's not entirely my jam, it was worth a try! Especially with the proper glassware.

First day of summer, but let me dream. Of cool frosty nights, twinkling stars, and snow in the forecast. Best thing about this, avail all year long. A bit pricy per bottle, but it's a rare treat, not an everyday guzzler.

Thanks to my friend Josh, a former beer & wine distributor with a formidable cellar, I'm hitting what is essentially a very late birthday present after work tonight. It's a Belgian Quad from north Idaho - 10°, from Selkirk Abbey.
I first had this, I think, six or seven years ago, and I think I like it more now than I did then. I have no idea what vintage this is, but I know Josh has been sitting on it for a number of years, and time has been very good to it.

This is an interesting and new to me Belgian brew— Dark Spiritus Winter Project from Fantôme. Claims to be a Saison but more of a Belgian Dark ale with some spices plus the bitterness of an American IPA. But fine for a cool summer evening...

Blonde from Dageraad in Burnaby, BC. Brewed with a secret blend of spices, Belgian yeast, and European hops.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours a nice opaque orange with fluffy white head. The nose is fantastic. Orange, wheat, spice, bread, honey, and a hint of toffee.

The taste is wonderful. Sweet candy, honey, spice, bread, orange, grass, caramel, and a slight leathery note. Lovely. Definitely picking up the Belgian yeast.

Mouthfeel is fairly light. Aftertaste is slight hop bitterness and orange. Fantastic beer!

The glass is from a brewery in Bend, Ore that only does Belgian type beers. They opened a door. I got an itch now that is so hard to scratch. Been wanting to try this one for a while. It is amazing.

Now I gotta try this one (#3) side by side against #2 Tripel I had awhile back. Make sure the rankings are correct.

Enjoyed a couple of Belgian Strong Dark Ales this afternoon, one from Charleston, SC and one from Chambly, QC. I was mildly surprised by the Munkle beer, may have to make that an annual holiday staple. Unibroue never dissapoints.
    Cheers!

@Ashcloud got me thinking about Saison. Then low and behold look what was waiting in the beer refrigerator…

Just couldn’t ignore the urge. And Saison Dupont always delivers.

It may have been a decade or more since I've had one of these. Best before 10/01/27

Why have I been away for so long, this beer is perfection. Sweet for sure, but with a lot of layers, subtlety, and intrigue. An excellent reminder that I need to stop chasing and start retracing.

I love that sentiment. Some of the best beers I’ve tried the past few years have been beers from the past revisited.

So I stopped in at the grocery store last night to pick up a gallon of milk. Made a quick pass through the beer aisle as I’m often wont to do…and a 4-pack of La Fin Du Monde in 16oz cans caught my eye. It’s probably not new, but this was the first time I’ve seen this beer in this packaging. Had to grab it along with a single 500mL can of Aventinus, also the first time I’ve seen that beer packaged in this format. LFDM is as tasty as ever. Cheers!
