So have I, if I look back on my history, but I've also had many that were far more underwhelming than the Summerfest.

To each his own, I guess.

I didn’t post in this thread yesterday, but I did drink Summerfest on the first day of Summer. Today I picked up 2 more twelve packs and oddly enough, they were dated 6/5/23, which is later than any others I’ve seen posted. I’m taking two with me on my walk today.

Yes, as Terence stated in post #481:

"Summerfest exceeded our expectations and we had to ramp up production."

You are seeing later production runs in your area.

    Keep on drinking Summerfest! :beers:

I figured I bought my last twelve pack of Summerfest at the end of June, but today the shelves were stocked with 12 packs dated 6/26/23, so naturally I bought more. Also the bar I frequent just tapped a keg of Summerfest, replacing a keg of Sunny Little Thing, which wasn’t bad by the way

Was there actually a date on the 12-pack box?

A month (or so) ago I had a 12-pack in my hands and I flipped it around many times and I was not successful in finding a date so I just put it back on the stack and bought something else instead.

    Cheers!

I enjoyed Summerfest yesterday for the first time and was impressed. It's a fantastic lager, easy to drink and pairs well with sitting my deck watching my grill do it's magic on steaks.

Yes, there was a clearly readable date on the package. I have seen the occasional Sierra Nevada 12 pack that is undated, but I assume it's just a random error?

I picked up the same packaging run, no date that I could find on the box but I was able to see the bottom of a can by looking through the handle.

I've had a number of boxes that I've had to flip over many many times before finally finding the date (by "many many" I mean maybe 4 or 5 times looking at each side). The black ink on the boxes can be really hard to read depending on where it's printed.

To date I've never had a Sierra Nevada 12 pack of 6 pack undated.

Interesting, I've never noticed a date on any 12 pack of cans. 6 packs and bottle 12 packs all have clear dates printed in the same place every time. Is the location of the date consistent on the 12 packs of cans?

I don't believe they are, which is why it appears "hit or miss".

The date code is consistent on the 12 packs of cans. The date is printed lengthwise on the left side of the top of the box. The UPC code will be on the left side of the side panel facing you and the panel with the hand hold will be on the opposite side. If you have a 12 pack of bottles, the date code will be printed on the perforated tear away where you would open the box. As I stated earlier, I have seen the occasional missing or illegible date code, but I assume that those are random errors

Yeah, I find the biggest problem with the code on the Summerfest box is the dark blue color and the not very dark ink (throw in old eyes - mine are as old as I am!). I've got to wear my most powerful reading glasses and still maneuver the pack at different angles under the glare of the retailer's florescent lighting to read it.

Lately that has only led to disappoint. Probably in this thread I've mentioned I've only found March dates the last couple of months. The other day that finally changed - found a pack from the first week of April. :grimacing:

Totally agree with you regarding the legibility of the date codes. I carry a really strong pair of reading glasses with me when I shop for beer.

I think my area must be buying a ton of Summerfest, because it has always been fresh and I was really surprised that there was new stock on the shelves at this point. I hope you run into a fresh 12 pack

Summerfest is long sold out in my local store, they used to order much more. Maybe next year...
