    Hello,

I'd like to make a list of all the craft beer establishments in my city, and post here in a BA thread so that when users do a search for my city in the forums, said thread would pop it and they could use it for making beer outing plans if ever visiting.

The thing is that there's a lot of yearly turnover of craft beer establishments in my city, and hence I would ideally like to be able to delete the thread each year and post a new thread reflecting new places that have opened (and others that have closed) since the previous year's thread.

So far I've yet to find a way to delete threads that I've started, no "options" button or "edit" button or similar. Is there something I'm missing? Or another way around this, like maybe PM-ing the moderators and asking them to delete a previous thread?

    Thanks!

No. In general, we rarely delete threads, and the mod team won't delete upon request (even if you're the OP). The reason being is that all of the replies would be deleted too, which isn't fair to those who contribute to the thread.

The solution would be to put the year (e.g. "Beer places to visit in [insert City] (2023)") in the thread title. This is what we do with all other annual threads, which get automagically locked at the end of the year to make way for new annual threads.

What Todd said from my experience as a former Super Mod is what has been applied for many years here at BA.

Posts can be deleted on request (report your own) in case you said something you eventually regret (inappropriate, silly or rude to another user).

Nuking a whole thread is more tricky. I think I’ve seen this happen a handful of times only during my three years moderating.

But as you said, OP. If you have any doubt report your post or thread and the team handle it the best they can.

Okay, that's an idea too. putting the year of the thread.

And it seems that you cannot edit a specific post within a thread (1) once others have posted beyond your post in the thread, or (2) once a certain amount of time has elapsed, even if your post was the last post in the thread. Any work around for this either? In that case I could just go to the original post in the thread and update it with the new establishments/closed establishments...

You can edit a post for up to 15 mins. We set this limit to avoid confusion when people start quoting text in their replies and other potential complications.
