Snagged a 4pk last night, and by night's end it was somehow a 2pk

Just read that the Maibock is "limited distro." :worried:

There weren't any specifics, but I'm skeered. :pensive:

Admittedly, I'm not the best in regards to tasting notes or even really a comp. beer out there. I know you're a big fan of the Bartless Maibock from More - never had that beer myself, so not sure where this wpuld line up with that.

I guess I'll have to revisit and give it some thought. This session was more of a "long day, let's shut the brain off and have a couple two tree." Nice breadiness, balanced malt and sweetness. Goes down easy. I really love Ryan and Lane's use of the Mittelfruh hop, I feel like they nail every beer that features it, including this one.

I imagine you saw my distress over the limited distro, did you get yours at the brewery? I don't think I can get down there for some time and the FOMO is building.

I did get it from the brewery yeah, taking advantage of the $2 off 4pks on Wednesdays :+1:

Where do you buy your beer? We didn't distribute last week but maibock is going out to anyone that ordered this week. If your shop didn't get any, ask them to order it. We should have enough for the next week or two in terms of cases. We package 4 beers per month. 2x 20bbl batches and 2x 10bbl batches. The two smaller batches are labeled limited as a precaution as they typically run out faster.

Thanks for the info. I contacted Beth by email this afternoon and got the good news that the Maibock is in my neighborhood. I'll be grabbing some tomorrow!

Almost popped for the whole case at the local Binny's (beer guy says he's not sure if there will be more) -- but opted for three 4-packs and one 4-pack of Goldfinger's Maibock.

@dbelford -- chilled and popped a can of RT for a special Friday treat -- um. Yeah -- at first taste, just enjoying, this is spot-on to-style. Only wish it didn't suffer from the "disappearing can head." Just drops away*.

    (*so did the Goldfinger)

You are a serious Maibock aficionado! I got a couple of cans from Beer on the Wall and called it a day. My soft body cannot handle too many beers of high caliber.

Hops, on the other hand, it absorbs very well! haha. Anyone try Falcons Cannot Hear yet?

To be honest, I'm not a high-octane drinker -- I like a few higher ABV beers now and again, but I'd rather drink lower alcohol, high flavor beers.

That said, I also like big, malty beers like traditional German lagers. My trips overseas were always during different Fest seasons, so Oktos and Maibocks (and leftover Starkbier) always trigger my palate and give me that nostalgic feeling.

OTOH, I need those hop fixes now and again, too!

Had a Falcons last night. I think this is batch 3(?) One of my favorite hazy beers from RT -- the chinook helps it from going too sweet, toes the line perfectly - piney & peaches

I readily admit to not being a Saphir Hops fan, but I have had a few beers where they were used just right -- RTB Maibock is one of those beers!

I was reviewing it and was picking up on the right balance of bready malts and herbal hops (and bitterness) and had forgotten Saphir was one of the hops.

I've mentioned it previously, but I think RT's focus on recipe style (of all sorts) is outstanding.

Agreed, really good, but more pricey than Hop butcher at $20/4pk (Beer on the wall, not sure about taproom pricing), which is kind of crazy given that HB produce in the city and RT are in the burbs where the taxes are arguably cheaper.

Maybe economies of scale is the reasoning here...

    Maybe not Lake Zurich?

Then again, RT's prices seem to run a wide spectrum. Fortunately, my favorites are on the lower end.

Stopped in at the Binny's where I found the Maibock last week. Gone.

    Didn't even last a week.

Glad I grabbed what I did.

Just learned that both Binny's in my area sold out of RT Maibock -- impressive that RT is becoming that popular.

I picked up some of the latest batch of RT Pils yesterday and enjoyed one this afternoon.

A "different" tart sort of character mixed in with the good malts and other, bitter hop notes, but very drinkable and tasty.

Followed up with one of my last RT Maibocks -- still world class lager brewing there.

Observer & Observed is on draft at the Hopleaf, Chicago folks.

Man, I love a well made barrel-aged stout with no funny stuff in it. I hope they make this an annual release.
