Um. Other than Weizenbock, bocks are lagers. Just sayin'.

    I should've clarified lol!

I enjoyed the biscuit, malt and caramel over the AAL Coors and fosters I typically go-to for a lunch beer

Managed to nab some Cowtown La Cabra Dorada maibock yesterday before it went off tap. Nowhere near the imports, a bit thinner but had a nice malty backbone to it without being overly sweet. Likely to be my last maibock of the year as it seems the style just does not have any traction with most of the DFW brewers/we don't get Hofbraü or Ayinger in bottles.

So, what imports are you seeing?

Those are about the only 2 I've seen -- as seasonals, anyway. Other than some import Heller Bocks that are of questionable vintage.

This year we only got the Ayinger on draft at a select few spots. I grabbed and finished a 6 pack of the Hofbraü while back in Ohio last month.

Looking forward to the report. I need to try it in the bottle too. I may have over-rated it in my mind because I was so pumped to be at the Map Room again.

Ironically I was at the Map Room again a couple days ago and it was still on tap, but I didn't have any because I was the driver. Both my friends got it and loved it though

Eggenberg-Schilling Maibock. I was looking for this beer this last weekend, didn't find any. Total Wine in Woodbury didn't have it.

The Eggenberg & Schilling Maibock was pretty tasty, beautiful deep gold color, excellent clarity...malt is front and center, ever so slightly toasted, this beer has a hefty dose of hops and I'm guessing that is the Schilling/American side of this collab? Regardless, it drank dangerously at its 7.4%...the abv was noticeable but way way less than others, not negligible but damn near close...here she is...

Loafer's Glory from Lazy Hiker brewing based out of Western NC. Picked this up at the high-end grocer in town the other week and i am very impressed by how balanced this brew is.

I would definitely try one if I came across it. The beech smoked is not too hard to find. Oak smoked not so much.

Enjoying a Doppelbock from Edmund's Oast which was very tasty and inspired me to have a second one from Lazy Hiker in Franklin, NC.

Oh here's a nice surprise. Really hopped with pine resin over long malts. Brilliant! Third Space Maibock

Pine resin? Sounds awful for a maibock

It isn't. The malt wave brings it all together!
