    Good afternoon NBW
Pit stop at Daredevil Brewing in Speedway, Indiana after a 1st birthday party in Indianapolis.
    Indy Lager

Draft pour at Speedway taproom. 5% 12 IBU per menu. Bright golden yellow with nearly white head. Aroma is mild with pale malt. The taste is semisweet pale malt with a tangy bite. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Fairly clean lager. Overall, good for the style.

    Cheers all!

I enjoyed that one also, and I'm happy that all Roughtail brews I find in San Antonio are always fresh.

Crystal clear, dark amber body; lively, dense carbonation; initial thick, fizzy head that soon dissipates to a thin, wispy circle of foam inside the glass. Pleasant, mild caramel smell; slight herbal note. Mild malt sweetness; light sense of hop bitterness; faint herbal notes. Medium body; smooth.

This is not a bad beer, considering it's a gluten-free offering and a light beer. The highlight is the flavor, which seems to expand and become more prominent as the beer warms.

I just love visiting Vermont in the Summer, and yes it's a great place to ride in. I was up there for the well known VTGF fondo, and good lord it was hard. The rain kicked in which just made it harder... but I got it done.

There's lots of good.. and bad things when being out there on the road. And then of course so much great available beer in Vermont which goes with out saying, never mind you just find Heady Topper and Focal Banger in almost every available gas station

It's funny you are posting this, as I was just thinking about this beer and how it's the only Ultra variant I haven't tried yet; but it's not common in my area and I rarely see it.

And it is a gluten-reduced beer and not gluten-free and the marketing for it is a little tricky if just relying on the label and it should be clearer.

..."Crafted to remove gluten" on the label....yeah, not really saying gluten-free...and go to the web site, and it states "...gluten-reduced..."...marketing ambiguity at its finest...

    Time for another new beer!

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned 06/21/2023.

Opaque bodied, with a dark lemon yellow and very solid appearance. Doesn't get into turbid or even custard looking but has a thick presence. Head is classic good nearly bright white head of three to four fingers. Minimal retention, quite soapy with little lacing and very clear big bubbles.

Delicious dankness indeed. Aroma is a dank quality that goes from spicy, to woody, to even sweet real nicely. Touches a real nice smokey tinge as well like being around a campfire too. Real impressive dank hop aroma.

Palate gets just a hair more interesting. Mid palate has a simple malt backbone, was hoping for a bit more depth and thickness but it doesn't get too watery luckily. The mid palate first gets a bit tropical fruity, hinting pineapple/mango qualities, and the dankness kicks in. Woody bitterness in the mid with green sharp mint even rosemary woody like flavors too. The finish though starts to get hot, with a real woody pine burn on the aftertaste, and comes with a real green finish that lingers and builds like a nice jalapeno pepper flavor.

Not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but there's a lot of playful things going on here which make for a tasty experience.

    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25 | BA Generated Score: 4.27

    Cheers!

It bugs me a lot and with something this serious [for some people] it should be clear and without any guesswork or extra research needed.

Jet black body, opaque; thick, frothy, light brown head, long lasting; patchy splotches of foam stick to the glass. Rich dark roasted malt smell; cacao nibs and bitter chocolate. Rich and flavorful taste; fine blend of sweet and bitter chocolate; chocolate fudge and brownies; bourbon undercurrent; bitter. Heavy body; heavy sweetness throughout with a mild dryness at the finish.

Ah, a coffee stout, eh? After the fact I can sense coffee, but it's well-hidden on my palate. Still, this is a rich, decadent stout and quite the treasure.

    ...thanks, Vann...you are most generous...

Today I have a beer style that's not my favorite, but it is a collaboration from two breweries I love.
This is a dry hopped wheat ale, 5.5% ABV, 25 IBU from Von Trapp and Fox Farm.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4
Poured from a 16oz can stamped BEST BY 10/19/23 to a Weizen at fridge temp.
Pours foggy light gold with a puffy white head. Lacing is generous.
Banana and cloves are definitely there but so is a subtle medicinal smell.
The taste has all that plus hops. These hops have a mango, peach, strawberry sense to them.
The mouthfeel is light but so is the carbonation.
Overall, the standard Hefenweizen style notes are the most prominent but the dry hopping is a nice plus. This is a style I don’t usually enjoy, but I did not mind this spin on it.

KRUPAVY 12 a Czech Style Pilsner brewed at Twin Elephant Brewing in Chatham Nj. This beer is brewed with Bohemian Pils malt, Sanz hops and Czech Lager yeast. I drank this brew on tap at the brewery and at home from a pint can. In both instances the beer is Golden yellow with a thick white lasting head. The aroma is strong and mostly malt. The flavor is malt balanced with a hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is full and the finish nicely bitter. Overall an excellent brew. A very enjoyable and refreshing beer on a hot, humid and hazy summer afternoon.

Root Down (burdock root) Ale from Brewery Nonic in Menononie, Wi.
First beer I drank at home in almost 8 days. I went 7 days with ZERO alcohol consumption.

    https://untappd.com/b/brewery-nonic-root-down/5393090
tested from a 750ml crowler. Collaboration with Botony Brewfarm from Glenwood City WI.
A mild brown ale is the base beer. but does have Munich Dunkel elements to it.

Look: dark brown slightly murky body that is reddish when held to the beer light, Some light gets thru the body. Great head: off white, tall, thick, very fine and persists for a very long time leaving some lacing.

Smell: low aroma with hints of coffee, earth, bread, spice
Taste: follows the nose exactly almost. Has sweet and bitter elements, but finishes slightly dry. The spice is hard to describe, hint of ginger and almost a ginseng type flavor. This beer is smooth, and very balanced, no flavor dominates.
Feel is slightly thin but for 4.3% it's really not thin. Plenty of but not too much carbonation.

I like this beer, it's something different. They did a good job on this experimental beer.

Hello friends!!! I hope you have all been well. Been sort of MIA the past few weekends, we travelled to vacation last weekend and travelled home this weekend, looking forward to a normal NBW next weekend where I can finally join and engage like normal. I will not bore you all with trip details but it was special, as it always is.

I only grabbed a few new beers on our trip, they will keep me busy today and probably take care of next weekend as well. I’ve read about and seen this beer posted here but never came across it until last week. Joining @vurt with a kölsch.

    Sünner Kölsch

Pours light straw, some opacity, white head with decent retention.

Aroma is a mix of cracker, with some doughy like quality, light colored fruit skins, dried out grass.

Taste is light pale malt, some white grape skin, not much fruitiness just the bite on the finish, along with some grassiness.

Nice mouthfeel, light, effervescent without being overdone with just a touch of bittering hops, very crisp and dry.

A tasty beer, glad to have tried…a good beer to drink after yard work and a cold shower.

    ------------------------------

That is probably it for me new beer wise today, we are still settling back into home before moving out July 5th for renovations, they were supposed to start back in April....finally!

I'll lurk and catch up tonight and tomorrow, cheers everyone and have a great week.

Sorry @Smakawhat I will answer with this video...

I will also share a small trip recap, sorry I lied above, but just because it is a good people being good people story and it relates. When we went to the alchemist our boys were watching the canning machine forever and mesmerized. Guess who shows up and takes our boys on a personal tour....Yes, mom and dad got to go too but this was all for the boys; everything was explained to them and addressed to them. Dad just got the pleasure of watching them learn and take in some really neat stuff, a special few minutes watching kids be in awe of their surroundings.

Good pre-4th of July Sunday afternoon, New Beer Samplers and commentators. In my opinion, Slack Tide Brewing Company in Cape May County, NJ, is in the top tier of New Jersey breweries. While not well-known in North Jersey, it's highly regarded in the southern part of the state and in southeastern Pennsylvania. My wife and I have a shore house down here and I've been visiting Slack Tide and enjoying its brews since it opened 7 years ago. This weekend marks a milestone for the brewery as it moved from its original facility to a newly-built brewery (15K barrel capacity) and tasting room. I posted photos on the WBAYDN thread yesterday; the new venue is gorgeous!

So in honor of Slack Tide's success I wanted to review a new-to-me beer. For several years ST has brewed a Belgian Blonde Ale called Bell Buoy (all of its beers are nautically-themed) which is well-regarded. This variant was conditioned for 14 months on Jersey peaches, then aged for over a year in in Pineau des Charentes barrels, and then bottle-conditioned. It's a superb effort!

Bottle #108 of 400. Based upon advice received at the brewery, I put the bottle in the freezer for about 20 minutes before opening. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a cloudy, muddy apricot color with a thin, creamy, bright white cap and thick, attractive lacing. The nose is big and fragrant with notes of white wine and Belgian yeast/funk. But the sour/tart aroma is balanced by noticeable peach sweetness. The base Bell Buoy is a solid Belgian Blonde Ale to begin with with appropriate notes of lemon, coriander, and peppercorn. But the flavor is enhanced by aging in Pineau des Charentes barrels which contribute notes of dry, sauvignon blanc and musty oak and the sophistication of an apéritif. But conditioning the brew on fresh Jersey peaches is a masterstroke that a really nice balancing touch of fruity sweetness. The flavors are complex but blend very well. This ale has a thick, creamy mouth feel with pleasant carbonation, and it drinks very easily for 8.5% ABV. Overall, this variant of Bell Buoy is simply a delight to drink.

I'll be drinking a lot more beer over this long holiday weekend as we celebrate our beloved country but I'm not sure any more will be new so I'll wish you and your families a glorious and safe 4th of July weekend! Cheers, NBW!

While much of the mantra has always been drink from the can, glad to see he enjoys the use of a good glass!

I’ll have to check out the pictures, you’re the reason I tried this brewery a few years back. I agree, they are top notch, still need to visit but if I do looks like it’ll be the new place now.
