Back from a late morning bike ride. Almost got eating alive by those thrips since it is hot and I always sweat like a pig . Now time for a beer and a movie. Cheers

 

This is the brewery I came back to Hungary to visit: Brew Your Mind in Szekszárd. It’s not very big, but boy is the beer good. This is Clean Hands pale ale; citrusy, crisp, and refreshing.

I have had beers from virtually every country in Europe* but somehow Hungarian brews have been elusive. I did spend a day in Budapest many years ago where I had a macro beer on draft but I have zero idea what it was. It was served in a Soproni glass but I don't think that was indicative of its identity. I have definitely have not had a craft Hungarian beer.


*I'm mostly missing micronations such as Luxemburg, Malta, Andorra, etc.

 

Hungarian beers mostly don’t seem to make it out for export. Soproni is owned by Heineken, so maybe that one. But otherwise you pretty much have to come here

 

OK, I screwed up the name of that first one. That’s Clear Vision, not Clean Hands, and it’s an IPA.

Next up is Money Warship, an 11% TIPA, after which I expect to make a lot more such mistakes.

One of two new to me collaboration beers planned for the weekend. This one was generously given by @Danmullens1 and is excellent.

Eagle Park Brewing / 1840 Brewing Company Collaboration Joint IPA (2023)



Full review in the New Beer Weekend #155 Thread. This appears to be a collaboration beer brewed for at least five years at this point, is now an NEIPA and while I don't have a very broad experience in this style, it is one of my favorites due to a great taste profile and balance between sweet flavors and a dank pine containing any excesses. Thank you so much Dan, King of the Midwest NEIPAs!

Should be back later this morning / early afternoon for a proper tailgate at Comiskey Park II.

Russian River - Mind Circus Hazy IPA

 

Happy Saturday BA's! Managed to get in 7 miles on the road before the storm hit. I don't mind riding in the rain but when the cars can't see ya it's not a good mix, hope to go longer tomorrow. It was terrible to see Cav crash out of the TDF, I guess he'll remain tied with Eddie Merckx forever with 34 stage wins. The baby bluebird flew out yesterday so I'm on birdhouse cleaning detail today. SN Nooner, nice light and crisp.
