A little change of pace this morning -- an NA beer. Most of the big breweries in Hungary have a traditional NA beer available, but then a wide range of NA radlers: half beer, half some kinda fruit juice. Lemon appears the most popular, and you can find an NA lemon radler at just about every restaurant in the country, and of course in every store.

This one, Dreher's lemon NA radler, is ... it's a refreshing beverage. It doesn't really scratch that "beer" itch, though. Anyway, it's a low-key way to start a Sunday morning.

Looks kind of gloomy out - rained just before I went out this morning to talk to the garden - one Mucho Nacho jalapeno is about three cm long - none of the others have fruit yet - but the first zukes will be big enough to pick by Tuesday (if we get any sun) and it's a race between the tomatoes ripening and the root rot killing the plants. The milkweed is doing well - saw two monarchs yesterday - and the winter squash has 2-3 cm fruit. And the second slime mold of the season is in my yucca bed:


Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the cyclic 3' 5' - AMP!

Today's New Breakfast Beer comes from a trade with @woodchipper:



I enjoyed this one - for me one of the rare cases where adding honey seemed to help the flavor and mouthfeel, and the color was unusual and attractive. Rating 4, rDev +11.7%. Thanks Peter!

 

There’s this spot in Budapest called Főzdepark (brew park), which has three breweries sharing a courtyard in an old industrial building. The largest of them is Mad Scientist, and I’m in their little beer garden.

This is Hotline Bling, their banana-coconut-cocoa sour which is, perhaps surprisingly, pretty good!

Book is Véres Balaton, a murder mystery set at a summer resort in the 70s. Fun!

Good day BAs! Finished an 18 hour fast, and I’m ready for brunch and a beer…first the beer - Bottle Logic’s “Electric Eden” (2021) imperial stout “aged in Bourbon barrels with apple pie, caramel, and hazelnuts”:



Bottled 2021. Poured at 57°. Tastes like a sweet apple pie with lots of caramel. Not a lot of barrel. Working on notes for NBW.

Hot, steamy, sunny morning. I’ve got stuff to do but I’m inclined to stay inside today…time will tell…Cheers and have a super Sunday y’all!

 

A Sunday of household chores sometimes requires a little beer. Pairing other cleaning efforts with a bit of beer fridge cleaning, finishing off the North Coast Old Rasputin from this year's March Madness event.
