Me too. Well, not five minutes, because the cheat-sheet saved me. HA!

BTW, on an unrelated note, that emoji may have been modeled after my brother. I think of him EVERY time it shows up. hahahaha!

My Jackie O's order that was 92% barleywine finally showed up the day we were leaving for vacation. Rather than cancel the trip, I decided to bring one along.

Fresh batch of 2023 Endolith in all its sweet glory is tasting mighty fine after long, salty day snorkeling. I am absolutely loving watching my kids enjoy their fist real reef experience. They are just as giddy as can be. Almost as giddy as I am that Jackie O's has around 12 different b-wizzles ready to ship to my door.

It's a little stronger this year at 14.1%, but it still reminds me of Moravian sugar cake. Brown sugar, maple syrup, hints of molasses, plus beautiful, bountiful bourbon. The finish is a touch hot with a nice oaky bite. Great way to end a great day.

Ten Year Beer from Revolution: a blend of English Barleywines aged between 12 & 24 months in bourbon & rye whiskey barrels. Released a few years back but tasting oh-so-fine on draft.

Notes of cherry, allspice & a hint of caramel. Top notch.

    Good evening all

I would say my preference is English to American style barley wines, but I trust Jackie O's to deliver, so I picked this one up while in Ohio.

12.7oz bottle dated 2023 poured into an oversized snifter at just above fridge temp 12.7% ABV per label. Label also states this is an American barley wine aged 19 months in bourbon barrels. The beer pours opaque medium brown with light brown colored head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and nothing else. No lacing. The aroma is mild with predominant caramel and lesser notes of bourbon and oak. The taste is semisweet caramel and vanilla up front before the bourbon and barrel roll in to dry things up. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is creamy & full bodied with less than medium carbonation and a semi dry finish. No harsh ethanol, but a gradual warming of the mouth and belly tip the hand on the ABV a bit. Overall, excellent. Decidedly less bitter and lacking the hop presence of most American style barley wines, but I'm good with it. Delicious sipper.

Unfortunately, this is my last Jackie O's barley wine in the house, but I have a couple others to review as I get time. Cheers all!

Murky barleywine at its finest. Can’t believe these were available on the shelves here from a local brewery I’d never heard of. It’s definitely in the upper realm of BA barleywines, which is unheard of for a place around here (the haze mecca). Didn’t even look at the cost, and still have no idea, because when I see these types of beers, I just buy them.

Got a nice surprise at a bottle shop tonight near my hotel. John Barleycorn - a barleywine from Mad River Brewing. Surprise #1 - I haven't tried this one! Surprise #2 - the bottle is from 2016!

Pours a nice dark brown/red with little head. The nose is sweet caramel candy, figs, plums, and raisins.

The taste follows the nose. Sweet candy, malts, maple, raisins, slight hops, plums, and some earthy notes. Lovely. The aftertaste is sweet toffee and slight citrus peel. Dry. Cheers all!

PB&J barleywine from Bottle Logic. Not sure there’s many barleywines I would turn down without even trying, but that might be one

I just bought one from Jackie O's with with with 2 kinds of nuts plus cinnamon and vanilla. So while I wouldn't necessarily be proud or excited about the purchase, I'd probably buy one. Morbid curiosity sometimes does work out...

I brought one of the barleywines from @Beersnake1 to Cayman, decided to open it tonight to celebrate my kids' first shark sighting. We saw a 4' nurse shark snorkeling today. The octopus yesterday was cooler imo but they vigorously disagree.

There are a lot of layers of sweet at work here with a strong oaky tobacco note underneath them all that picks up steam towards the finish keeping things balanced and intriguing. I taste apricot, orange gummi slice candy, cinnamon fig cake, woody vanilla, plenty of caramel and more. Thanks Tim, this is a great way to unwind after an exhaustingly fun day.

A shark, an octopus, and a barleywine...you are living the life! Enjoy my friend!
