Couldn't find an IPA fresher than 60 days (other than Two Hearted), but they've got a local Oktoberfest.

It looks like the caramel variant of Pumking may be more widespread this year... Judging by hauls I see shops getting in.

It’s always too early for pumpkin beer

Spied this today at a Binny's. Packaged 13 April 23 (3153 date code) fwiw. I'm going to wait until it hits a local grocer where I can usually save a few bucks on a sixer.

Really? My local Jewel can only beat Binny's if they have a special sale -- and I don't think I've ever seen Weihenstephaner at the Jewel.

    Where are you shopping?

It is approaching 110 degrees outside. Usually I work outside weekends but approx 105 is my limit. Drinking beer while working outside? I sweat out a can of beer for every half-can I guzzle. It is basically just a fluid at that point. Lagers or something in the realm (yes I said 'realm') of bud light is best to thirst-quench. If I could get old-style here that would be better, but with same temp & hydration effects. Now I am just blabbing. Thanks.

Woodman's. Binny's is 13.99. Woodman's will likely be ~$12 if memory serves. So maybe not a few dollars but a couple anyway. Used to be an even bigger difference in the past but sadly not so much anymore

Sierra Nevada in NC has released their Oktoberfest. A festbier with a small hop bite. Pleasant sweetness. Pretty nice!

Woodman's is across county lines in Illinois for me -- Lake trumps Cook for taxes.

I'd go to Woodman's in Kenosha or Lakemoor, but they're just too far out of my way anymore. And I called Lakemoor last year for Oktos and they were thin on the shelves.

I hear you regarding proximity - certainly not an option for all. BG Woodman's is in LC too fwiw.

I thought it was on the wrong side of the line. I'll definitely check it out the next time I'm down that way.

Picked up Paulaner Oktoberfestbier cans and Hacker-Pschorr bottles. I forget the dates but I think they were pretty decent.

The H-P specifically is tasting amazing.

Are you stating that H-P tastes different from Paulaner!?!

    Prost!

Yup, that one. I think last year (or maybe the year before) they renamed it Oktoberfest Bier. But yes, the pale Oktoberfest (same one they serve in the tents).

No no, two different styles. I picked up the Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier (pale) and the Hacker Pschorr (amber).

Haven’t seen the Paulaner Marzen (amber) yet.

Was just stating the H-P is tasting really good, the former is good too, but the H-P was particularly tasty.

I still have one left from last year. I drank the second-to-last in early summer (maybe early June?) and it held up fine. There were some very minor changes noticeable, but if it was the first I'd ever tasted I'd still have thought it was a great beer.

So has it ever been confirmed that Paulaner and HP are the same? I mean the Marzen versions. I know they are damn similar, but I remember liking the HP slightly more in the past, but not sure I have ever had them in the same season.
