Brinking down the cellar.....today's beer is 3F's BBA Behemoth, recycled photo, sorry!

 

1) Paulaner Pilsner (4.8%): A German Pils with flavors of lemon citrus, cracker German bread malts, and pale Munich malts on the finish.
versus
2) Frau Gruber Pils (4.8%): A German Pilsner that is tart, sour, yeasty.
versus
3) Ayinger Pilsner (5.3%): An German Pilsner with flavors of crackery pale Munich malts. Earthy and smooth. (Correctly matched all beers blind)

Winner:
1) Paulaner Pilsner: Authentic German Pilsner battle. First try at Frau Gruber. This is why I buy singles. Completely tart, sour, spoiled. Drain pour. Glad I didn't pick up a 4-pack.
It comes down to Paulaner and Ayinger. Haven't had Paulaner in a while and pleasantly nice. Crisp, floral, hoppy. Historically Ayinger gets the win, and maybe my palate is wrecked from that spoiled one. The crisp floral quality of Paulaner tasted better today.

 

Mixing in a PBR.

The day is young.

Always drinking Grolsch and Heineken when I visit your lovely country. I know they are not the best beers with the best reputation but that's what I associate with Amsterdam, Den Helder, Winterswijk, Arnheim, Den Haag... Freshly poured Heineken and Grolsch is not a crime!

Definitely my favorite beer from NL. Masterpiece

 

1) Toppling Goliath DDH King Sue (7.8% canned 5/20/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with flavors of orange citrus zest, flower, pineapple and mango skin. Bright and clean.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Places I’ve Been (7.8% canned 6/12/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with Simcoe, Strata and Cashmere for flavors of orange, green, slightly dank pineapple, papaya. Tropical, sticky sweet with a piney bitterness. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) TG DDH King Sue: Another Toppling Goliath Haze battle. Haven't done these two side-by-side. Places I've Been is pretty decent. Tropical, green, a bit dank but also sticky sweet. It's good haze, but maybe one of the lesser memorable ones. The King still drinking bright, floral, and citrusy. Surprised this still sitting on the shelf some places.
