First of all, greetings everyone! I'm new here :nerd:

On my thirtieth birthday I got a bottle of Gouden Carolus Cuvee van de Keizer Imperial Dark (2012) with the instruction to age it for ten years. Two weeks ago I decided to open it on a nice occasion and shared it with my family. None of us had any idea of what to expect from an eleven years old beer.

It was absolutely amazing. I regard it as the best drink I ever had of any type.

We all thought it was a bit more reminiscent of dessert wine than beer, if anything, but actually unlike anything else.

I immediately realized that this must not become a once in a lifetime experience and that the proper way out is to age more.

So I have read up some about ageing and bought a few bottles for fun. I will try to get hold of a Keizer every year, but of course there is so many others and I have found many great suggestions here that will help me build varied cellar.

Still I wonder, if my aim is that dessert-wine-ish experience or a similar transformed experience, for how long should I age the different cellar worthy styles?
