BeerAdvocate app wishlist

As long as a cheat sheet might get considered, how about a cheat sheet for breweries' Beer Finder website links? Sometimes it takes a while to find it on a website (if they don't even have a link it takes forever to figure out there isn't one), so a shortcut list would be helpful.

I am intrigued by this suggestion as well as others that have suggested integration of data across apps. Before I tried Untappd or joined BA, I was on an app called Brew Gene. I initially liked it's interface. Something happened to the support for that app and I switched to Untappd, even though the data was maintained and I never deleted the app. I now have personal Beer data spread across a couple of apps as well as here at BA. If there were a way to view all the data in a single screen experience, I could get behind that.

 

Two simple things that I like to have from an app:
1. Keep track of my beers and their ratings
2. Being able to look up beers and breweries

 

Joined BA in '08 and eventually UT in '15, after the last BA beta app whathavya. The early BA app was a mini version of the site itself but really NOT ideal as a mobile app or very intuitive.
I agree with what others have said as far as cross-pollinating the 2 as I love both for different reasons. I'm on UT as the perfect mobile beer journal and BA for the forums, in depth knowledge and camaraderie. Combining would be great as I stopped logging here once I joined UT so it's all in one place. BA is desktop time for me and the ease of logging and pics on UT can't be beat.

 

Interactive mapping for sure (so many others replies on this)
Would love to see a updated taplist from places wether local or if im traveling.

 

A easy way to upload photos is by far and away my favorite request.
A distant second is interactive mapping.

|Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I would think an easy way to check in, both location and beer, with maybe a quick-rating system would be nice, with the option to either expand now or later.

 

I’ve got an easy one, I want to be able to see ratings for all the beers I’m looking at on a shelf.
Imagine holding your phone up to the shelf, the app would ID the beers using the camera and display an AR overlay of ratings for everything in front of you. You could tap on the overlay for more info about the beer.

Just integrate Beer Advocate with Untappd already.

 

My fear is one day something happens to Todd — fishing accident, whatever — and BA’s value to its corporate overlords suddenly diminishes greatly. Integrating the data between BA and UT would make life easier for us users, but would also make it easier for NextGlass to shift users to a single platform. I still use BA specifically because of the threads and the reviews. A lot of the app suggestions (my own included) have nothing to do with amplifying those two core benefits. Half of what people are asking for is already available on UT.

An Untappd badge for Beer Advocate membership would be a good start. Then additional badges for Beer Advocate activity/milestones (e.g. Forum posts, place reviews, likes, Pooh-bah status, etc.) You can then track user activity data on the backend to see what helps drive engagement between the platforms.

 

I definitely second the post requesting image-matching to beer info/reviews. Also, for those of us living in states that have restrictions on sending beers in and out of state - how about more on “where available” or “where to buy”? I’m sick of reading reviews only to find I can’t buy the beer anywhere close…

 

Obviously I also prefer BA because I've put so much into BA, and it's the best one out there.

Related to this, bringing all your beers from BA along with your rank and profile would be necessary. I wouldn't want to have to start over again.
