I just picked up a 6 of this for myself today and I’m on your side. It may not fit the guidelines but it is one tasty beer!

The same store got a case of Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier today. It was brewed in late May and tastes delicious. Fun fact, the date on the bottle is in you-need-to-know-how-to-decode-this format (e.g. L143W), but the best-by date on the case is human-readable 23.05.2024 (or maybe it was 05.23.2024, but either way is fine).

143rd day (May 23rd) of 2023 bottling (not brewed). W is the 23rd letter of the alphabet.

    Yeah, I studied up.

The Wolfs ridge Septemberfest and the new Fatheads Oktoberfest are
Septemberfest is an overlooked beer in my neck of the woods. It is one of my favorite favorite Festbiers. The Headhunter is super solid also, good haul!

I stand corrected regarding: brewed vs bottled, but I do know how to read that date. What seemed amusing is that the date on the case didn't need to be decoded.

I've heard that's placed by the importer... and only for use by distros and retailers.

I grabbed two 6-pack can boxes of Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest / Collaboration Festbier with Kehrwieder. They had a packaged date of 07/03/2023.

Picked up two more fall season favorites. Highland Brewing Clawhammer Marzen and Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier. Clawhammer is excellent and I always have to pick up a 6'er of it. Very fresh batch too - 7/11/23 bottled on date. Prost!

I passed by Victory Festbier and Southern Tier Pumking and Warlock this evening. A little early for Victory but right on time for ST, as it's been showing up around this time for years now. And since it has been the heat index has been 100+F when it drops. I'm not saying that they are related but that's one hell of a coincidence :stuck_out_tongue:

That Flathead's looks interesting. What's the story behind it, a local only release? I didn't see it on their site when I looked last.

I believe it's just what G'Suffa is being released as this year with a rebrand. I'm guessing the stats/recipe listed on the site for G'Suffa are accurate for this year's release, but with the older art and logo. I'd assume you'd get it in PA if you got G'Suffa in previous years.

Regarding this year's release, contra @invertalon I feel like it's pretty in line with the last few batches of it, just with a slightly lower ABV and lighter color. It may have still landed in the American "hybrid" Okotberfest category in previous years, but I'd still say it was far closer to a festbier since the recipe update in 2019 (I certainly didn't think of it as anything like a marzen since the recipe update in 2019).

This is their annual Octoberfest, re-done as more of a lighter "festbier" than previous iterations
It should be available anywhere Fatheads distro's currently....it is very good this year!

Thanks! I am looking forward to trying this. And it's a shame so many breweries have nice, flashy websites but then fall behind on updating.
