You hit the nail on the head with “Staycation “! I have stocked up on a glorious variety of brews! Tomorrow I’m stopping over to my buddy’s place for some pool soaking! Sunday is more of the same but at my dad’s house to celebrate his and my stepmom’s birthday!

 

I so covet your access to their stouts and Barleywine!!

A fantastic Imperial Stout from Grimm: “Sumi Babka “ Babka- style Imperial Milk Stout with Cacao, vanilla and salt! This reminds me of my most favorite brew from my local brewery, Levante‘a, “King of the Deep “ Imperial Stout with vanilla, cacao and sea salt!

 

Mmmmm lots of peanut butter in this batch

Full review here. These KBS variants have not been for me, and this is no exception. I bought because I really liked Lizard of Koz, but I believe it was more balanced than this one loaded with sweetness, with chocolate fudge, milk chocolate, vanilla and lactose bringing the sugar and sweet content well above capacity. Unless you LOVE high levels of sugar and sweet, tread lightly. Hoping age will help this out, otherwise will be handing these out to those who love sweetness.

 

Wait, they put lactose in KBS?? What is Founders doing lately? First these awful label changes, and then strange variants/adjuncts. I haven’t seen many variants since the last makinack maple fudge (which was a shell of the original release), but I wouldn’t buy them anyway

 

Thanks for the heads up, Jay. I still will likely track down a single, review a half pour, then mix the rest with an old school KBS to better regulate the work my pancreas will have to do.
