The first Friday of August is traditionally International Beer Day, so this year on August 4.

I will be attending a beer tasting at a/some beer bar(s) here in Antwerp and will report on our (re)tasting later.

What beers did you (re)taste on International Beer Day 2023?

Well to make it an international celebration I have a couple Ayinger Maibocks in the fridge that I'll happily enjoy.

Happy International Beer Day! It’s IPA Day today, August 3rd. I’ll make a separate post for that. Better yet, drink an imported IPA for the best of both worlds.

    Isn't every day beer day?

A new brewery is opening in my town tomorrow, so a couple beers there will be consumed.

Is that based upon where the beer is brewed or who owns it? Nowadays you have to keep up with all ther mergers and acquisitions as well as reading all the labels to tell where a beer is brewed or who actually owns it. Lots of lawsuits on beers that used to be brewed internationally only to find out it now is brewed in the USA.

Glad it's "International" Beer Day today, otherwise I wouldn't be able to celebrate.

“International” doesn’t mean you have to drink an imported beer to celebrate, it means it’s a global celebration.

That makes more sense than just having an imported beer to celebrate. So now.... it's party time! Drink what you like.

I had a Fuller's London Pride on cask at The Royal Mile, Des Moines, IA, at around 1:30 p.m. CDT yesterday. That was 1:30 a.m. on International Beer Day. In Bangkok. I'll take that as a win. Especially since I had no idea that August 4 was International Beer Day.

Joining you though via bottle, not cask.

One of my favorites of any style or country.

Griffin Brewery in Chiswick brewed Fuller's London Pride

I've noticed that if someone goes back and edits their post and adds a tag the notice doesn't work.

@Todd -- added as an edit for experimentation.

Wait, what's the deal with that place?? Fuller's doesn't import cask ale to the US as far as I know, and the rule of thumb is that US places with it are using keg beer and serving "fake" cask. This place even has the ESB and Porter. The Fuller's beer finder shows The Royal Mile as having received kegs of all 3 (not that that's a definitive indicator). The pics of the place show it also serving Paulaner Hefe on a beer engine alongside Fullers... and that seems to point in the keg direction. Their recent social pics also show it serving cask Adnams Broadside... and that hasn't been in the US for around a decade I assume. Maybe it's an old pic, or maybe this place has some sort of black market operation. I am NOT saying that they are definitely doing anything shady. Anything is possible and it could all be legit. Their cask porter is rare in the UK. I would love it if you can politely ask them if they use keg beer, and if not, how they get the casks.

That sounds like taking a messy chance!

A while ago there was a local brew-pub using beer engines to pour their regular beers for "appearance."

I knew the brewmaster and he said it was the brainchild of the new owners, and he didn't like it at all. He left not long after.

Oh, and that brew-pub is no longer.
