After the trip up to Bear Lake last weekend I picked up a sixer of my top 3 favorite.

Well, if you can get to Kailua, Oahu, they have Black Butte 35th Anniversary on tap (https://untappd.com/v/grace-in-growlers/5541746). I'm probably heading there tonight to have a few beers.

They also have a Communist Porter from Lokahi Brewing that I will try.

I love Porters. When I started to get into Micro Breweries and Craft in the late 80s, Porters was one of the "newer" styles that I started drinking after brown ales (Pete's Wicked Ale). I would pick up a six pack of SN Pale and Porter and always have some in my fridge. In modern times, I got back into craft about 15 years ago when I had a Ballast Point Victory at Sea (still one of my favorites).

I love great big BA Impy, and plain old Impy stouts, but not much love for Porters, except Founders Porter (which I refuse to buy anymore, loved the woman on the label), that being said this was pretty tasty,

Back when I joined BA the sign-ups process asked what your favorite style was and I answered Porter. Before Arcadia Brewing went belly-up they brewed what they called a London Porter which I loved. It had a slight smokiness to it that made it different. I still like the style, although I can no longer say it's my favorite. I have a Founders Porter and an Edmund Fitzgerald in the fridge that I bought just to revisit the style.

Can’t get either anymore, but Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald and Pollyanna Eleanor are two of my absolute favorite porters in the world. Mayfield Porter is a pretty good option here in New England as well.

Smuttynose, Founders, Bells, and GL Edmund Fitzgerald are all my go to porters.

Hard to beat and luckily readily available in NWNJ (usually)

I'm in complete agreement with those 4, although i can only get Bells and Founders in FL anymore.

Shame that it took Anchor going out of business for their Porter to make its way back to our shelves - late April bottling date no less, so decently fresh. Bought a couple for the last hurrah. Still one of my favorites, in addition to the above list and Sierra Nevada.

Drinking a Collective Arts Stranger Than Fiction porter right now... have a bit of age on it (8ish months) but still hits the spot.

Just had the pleasure of encountering the Russian River Porter for the first time. What a treat, wish this one was part of their regular packaged line up. Note, this is not Shadow of a Doubt, which the bar owner said is a Baltic porter and which I've never enjoyed.

I’m kinda strict when it comes to porters. I like ‘em pretty strong. I’m also a huge sucker for a good smoked porter, been really wanted to try the “Coffee and Cigarettes” one. Any ways some Porters I always go back to:
-Ballast Point Victory as Sea (my all time favorite)
    -Stone Smoked Porter
    -Alaskan Smoked Porter
-Founders Porter (the only light one I like)
-A Little Madness Smoke on the Porter (a local I enjoy)

I’ve never seen it marketed as such. It’s strong though. You never had or never liked?

I've never seen it marketed that way either. I've had it a few times and it never resonated with me.

It's been a couple years for me on that one, but I loved it and would like to revisit it. Used to have a coffee mug with the logo on it that was a favorite as well.

The only Porter I have on hand is my homebrewed version of Hill Farmstead Everett. I typically drink this beer when the weather is cool(er) but I decided to drink one today.

A number of years ago I was able to obtain a growler of Hill Farmstead Everett and conduct a side-by-side tasting of my homebrewed version and Everett. I came pretty close to reproducing Everett for that batch:

I would strongly recommend Everett to folks.

    Cheers!
