Didn’t think of that. Huh. I’ll have to try two others to see. Interesting idea.

This is some thick motor oil. Not sweet at all (thankfully). Tons of fresh ground coffee flavor. Definitely has coffee like that amazing Anchorage coffee stout I posted here a while ago. Like you’re sticking your nose into a bag of fresh ground beans for real

I picked up these cans while in Meadville for my college reunion at Allegheny in June. The cans have been in my cellar since my return. I believe I am lucky this brewery wasnt in town when I was in college!

Cross posted with the what MidAtlantic Beer are you drinking thread.

This is Voodoo Brewing and their Where Our Secrets Go Imperial Stout. The beer registers 9.0% ABV.

    onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. I picked this up at the brewery in Meadville in June. Date stamp on the can is canned on 2/2/2023.
The beer pours a cola brown to black color and rests in the glass with no light passing through. A dense creamy tan head of about 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy surface covering. This leaves dense lattice when I take a sip or swirl the glass.
the aroma on this beer is roast malts, dark chocolate and a bit of charred wood. No barrel aging mentioned, so must be malt scent. Not really any sweet notes on the nose and no hops nor hints of ABV.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine tingly carbonation and a smooth texture. The beer drinks pretty easy for an imperial stout. I sort of wish there was a little more "umph" to it.
Flavor is roasted malts and dark chocolate, hints of that charred wood too. Not smokey like sausage but burnt wood, although not ashy. Never any hops to note and the ABV is hidden throughout.
I find myself drinking this beer very easy and I find my glass empty quicker than expected. A no frills easy drinking imperial stout.

. At first thought, that is a bit of a surprise. However, it’s making more sense now that my original bias is wearing off.

KBS Booberry. Not up to the original by any means, but a solid stout. I’d rather have seen Lizard of Koz get released again.

Most people get hyped on the Barleywines they make, but i was hyped on this and was lucky enough to land one
    Kameneari from Jackie -Os
    Per the brewery:
"Blended from our most prized barrels, aged from 23-34 months, Kameniari is a tribute to the tenacity and resolve of the people of Ukraine. Kameniari is named after a poem written by Ukrainian poet Ivan Franko (1856-1916), which tells the story of liberation from oppression and laying the foundation for a brighter future."
    Sent to me by @Beer_Economicus

and Fuck Me is this fucking Delicious !!!
Hundred times better than BBT or any hyped up blended imperial stout i have ever had. Thats word. Try it and see for yourself.
    Just WOW
