Good day BAs! The rain is beating on my roof and it looks like I'll be spending another day in the garage.

Today's New Breakfast Beer is New To Me but was a Rare Beer Club selection from Hoppin' Frog back in 2018:

Bourbon Barrel Aged BORIS BUFF – from Hoppin’ Frog. 12 oz bottle picked up at the brewery (Rare Beer Club from 2018). In reefer at store, purchased 02/08/23, $ 12.73 (Including tax), $ 1.06/fl oz. Reviewed 08/08/23 (Review 3145). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 59.7 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 63.5 degrees F.
    Appearance – 4.
First pour – Deep Brown (SRM 30), barely translucent.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same.
Head: Small (Maximum 0.8 cm, aggressive center pour), copper, high density, quickly contracting to a 0.15 cm crown and no cap.
    Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Very weak roasted malt and bourbon. No yeast, no hops. No ethanol (9.4 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly sweet but basically BORIS. No yeast, no hops. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Moderate gastric burning but otherwise very smooth.
Palate – 4 – Full; creamy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) Does the picture on the label hint at the origin of the barrels or is it totally spurious? I’m not a connoissseur of bourbon and am sure I miss many nuances, but at five plus years old, this is getting long in the tooth (Do buffalo get long in the tooth?). Not bad as a one-off but overpriced as a routine drinking beer.
    Rating 4.1, rDev -5.3%

Good day @Ozzylizard while assumed fairly good, many people have been complaining about steep prices of Hoppin’ Frog or another one “Clown Shoes”. Both might have been available online to me but for over 25€ a bomber I passed on them.

    Drinking 3 Monts:

25 euros a bomber seems pretty steep to me as well - must be the shipping. Around here (about 100 miles from the brewery) they're about 12 $ a bomber and 4-6 $ for most of the 16 fl oz cans. When I'm in Germany next summer maybe I'll bring you some if we can schedule a meet.

Drinking Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA, I have to dedicate this one to @EdmundExley because for some strange reason when this beer was a regular offering, he was able to consume a fair amount of it in France. In fact, he probably was its most frequent poster

This both makes me happy and sort of sad, as I really love this one indeed. As I said then I was probably this guy buying it several times a week until it completely vanished from our shelves.

At some point I was doing the same with SNAPPY, or before with Duvel etc.

Thanks for the dedication and thought, cheers!

Wonderful kickoff this morning @Ozzylizard ! You and the cooler house after a nice 60s windows open evening led me to this selection.

A few words about this version in comparison to 2019 enjoyed July 20th were posted in the Cellar Review Thread. For our WBAYDN audience, this is on point, coffee strong and wonderful, held up well, strong as bull, as good as I could imagine.

Two from Squeeze on this wonderful Tuesday.

BAs! Thanks @Ozzylizard for 3944. Today I gotta go uptown to get downtown and when I get downtown I gotta go uptown. Sounds like a song! So, just returned from a 25 mi bike spin. 8.5 paved, 5+ on dry single track horse trails and 11+ crushed gravel. I gotta run on those single trax. Lots of hills & shade. Anyways, I'm going to absolutely devour some brews today and paddle around in it in a big canoe. We'll start with 3 Floyds Gumball Head American Wheat Pale Ale. Cheers!
