I prefer it in a bottle. Somehow doesn't seem like the type of beer you would want in a can. Sort of like wine in a can doesn't sound appealing.

I will definitely give this a try if I see it. Especially during backpacking/camping season, cans are a superior packaging format. And there’s nothing like enjoying a fine Trappist beer while surveying the grandeur of a high alpine meadow.

Nevermind that the Alps don't reach Belgium?

But seriously, a Trappist sitting at a cafe in Bruges is one thing, I'll take a good Helles on that high Alpine meadow.

(Major Smith -- sorry, that's probably too inside for movie fans )

But, here in Cascadia, we have Amerca's Alps, the Cascade Mountains.

Lowercase “alpine” meaning the mountain zone at or above the tree line. This zone exists outside of Europe (for example, in the Cascades).

Like this spot, where I hiked a couple weekends ago (just a couple hours’ drive from my house)—a perfect spot to enjoy a can of Chimay.

Take me around next time if I ever come back??? I didn’t want to leave :slight_frown: I got Seattle covered with @snaotheus, @BBThunderbolt said he’d take me around Bellingham, you got Cascadia covered? I’ll bring some beer…

Well, Cascadia includes both Seattle and Bellingham (as well as a swath of territory from northern California to southern Alaska) but I can be your guide in the Cascades and Olympics for a nominal fee. And free beer of course.

The Republic of Cascadia is a geographically large, bio-diverse region that in places touch the Salish Sea. We haz marmots and orcas!

Sadly, no. There are a lot of old hippies (especially the ones that were smart enough to buy a chunk of land back in the day. The ones who weren't are getting pushed out by the New Yuppies around, but there's a fair number who think they were born 40-odd years too late as well. Patchouli is still far too common a scent.

Just can’t see myself paying the price of Chimay in a can. Hard enough to drop 6-7$ on a bottle.

    Enjoy

I'm trying to imagine pouring a Chimay from a can into a chalice. Cognitive dissonance.

It wouldn't be a cheap one. Well, the quote that @M-Fox24 posted below is great. I feel like I've been a lone weirdo in focusing on 2nd fermentation and constantly bringing stuff like this up. It's fantastic to actually see something about this from the industry that makes me feel a little less crazy. If "many tests" actually indicates something more than just marketing speak, then it indicates that switching a beer like this to a can isn't simply a matter of easily choosing a packaging option based on the market. I do wonder if they found that they had to compromise the beer with regards to carbonation levels. I can't tell you how many side by sides I've done with Belgian beers just trying to get some insight on stuff like this where there isn't any information (or where there's contradictory info). Of course this Chimay news also includes really ridiculous stuff like "Now the Chimay experience can safely travel to the beach"... but so it goes.
