My first post in this forum. Really enjoy seeing and reading about all the great stouts you all are lucky enough to have! Cheers!
Arclight '22 World Between Worlds Imperial Stout w/ toasted coconut. This one is still drinking mighty fine as it warms. Mounds bar, coconut macaroon, dense no bake chocolate cake, and dark chocolate ganache. Super thick and viscous. It's obviously sweet, but the slight alcohol and bitter dark chocolate notes add some semblance of balance. One of the better non-barrel aged imperial stouts coming out of the Midwest imho. Fantastic stuff!

Sounds like a great beer Tim, glad it held up well and gives me hope the F.O. you sent will have held up just as well.
    Cheers!

That is encouraging, as i have not bought this since 2016 just because my palate was getting any redeeming value out of this brew. Sounds like my mistake as i was drinking this too fresh. Thanks for the review, i will have to hunt down a sixer that possibly is lingering on the shelves in one of my locals near the Mills River mothership.
    Cheers!

I’m a total snob/asshole, and I drain poured this. It was awful. Fruit in stouts is definitely not for me. Except coconut. Is that a fruit?

Do you work for UPS and if so will the new contract benefit you?

Enjoying an annual colab with Burial and Other Half, this one is Velvet Magnum VI. Man, this is one of the best dessert brews I've ever had. Yes, there are adjuncts, and the expert touch of coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, and nuts is well blended in. Each sip yields a nice bourbon warmth, and the bourbon offers up a balancing note but, in the end, this finishes with an appropriate amount of sweetness. The 500ml bottle was a tad expensive but comparable to GI and Bottle Logic prices and is as good as anything from GI i have had. Would have again, rated 4.51.
    Cheers!

Lucky i have Old Rasputin as the 2 are very similar in taste ( IMO , raspy is just a bit hoppier)

Is this one readily available being so close to SN?

If you’re ever in the Long Beach area, John’s liquor at 5932 Del Amo in Lakewood brought a case of the 2022 in last year. Last time I checked, there was still a six pack available. I’ll probably buy the last one here soon if no one else does too encourage him to bring in the 2023, it looks like it’s due out next month. I would call first to make sure it’s still there.

What a treat tonight. Robert the Great from De Struise in Belgium. A Russian imperial stout from Flanders. It comes in at 10.5% ABV. Bottled in 2020.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a thin layer of off-white head. The nose is amazing. Big notes of tobacco, coffee, dark chocolate, and some black licorice. Some dark roasted malts and a bit of toasted vanilla.

The taste is insane. Dark roasted coffee grounds, chewing tobacco, charred wood, VERY dark chocolate, molasses, and black licorice. Slight dark fruit, but the big roasty notes dominate. This is such a classic RIS with all the right notes. It's big and bold, but super smooth and enjoyable. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy.

No adjuncts, and it's amazing. Highly recommended! This is what a RIS should be. This might be my favorite RIS so far, although Black Albert from the same brewery is up there as well.

I remember thinking these TH milk stouts were syrupy when I started drinking them. These days, this would be considered watery thin.

Very nice stout right here. Rocky Mountain Barrel-Aged T.O.R.I.S. the Tyrant from Hoppin' Frog.

The taste is insane and quite a bit different from what I expected from the nose. Coffee grounds, roasted malts, vanilla, burnt sugar, dark German bread, char, and booze. Excellent overall.

    @Beersnake1

QORIS remains my all time fave mouthfeel.

Thick but not in a BBT ,Private Press or Medianoche way.

Wish 80% of most beers came in 8oz .What a dream .

Rye BA Boris is also an excellent one . gotta reach out to @Blogjackets about a reup soon!
