    That glass is amazing
I'm still hitting Propagator this week. A lot of times stuff is sold out online and they'll have bottles for purchase .

I hope I never see this for sale, because morbid curiosity would probably make me buy one.

It’s from Other Half. I know the region likes their garbage plate meals, but to savagely destroy a BA BW with that adjunct mix is criminal.

They ship to PA…I have to send my Tavour orders to a UPS store there. Maybe the same for FW going forward…only 2 hours each way.

    2012 and 2023 Sucaba
    11 Years Apart

the 2012 always tastes like the smoothest caramel, toffee, brown sugar liquid ever and has a wonderful barrel heat on the finish that resembles vanilla extract thats been soaked in bourbon

Edit : 2023 tastes almost exactly the same just with a more pronounced Caramel and slight date note and the finish has a sharper punch from heat. Still great

    FW is fucking world class

Celebrating my 10-year anniversary of being on BA with this great barleywine from Jackie O's and Pelican. Mother of all Bricks. Aged for 17 months in 19 year bourbon barrels. Comes in at 12.4% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a gorgeous dark brown with very minimal head. The nose is utterly fantastic. Sweet toffee, huge notes of bourbon, vanilla, oatmeal cookies, brown sugar, and a hint of molasses.

The taste...oh the taste. Definitely reminds me of MoaS from Pelican. Dominated by sweet bourbon and sticky toffee. Perfectly orchestrated. There are nice layers of bread, dark fruit, and even a hint of bitter oak. Burnt toffee, caramelized sugar, and maple brown sugar oatmeal. Lovely.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is bourbon and toffee. Great barleywine!

I opened my last Sucaba as I'm contemplating falling even further off the no buying wagon.

There is a lot of sweet out there in world of contemporary barleywine, this is a damn tasty outlier. I get caramel and dried fruit for sure but it's softer, more a gentle suggestion than aggressive confrontation. The oaky booze and light vanilla are perfectly incorporated at the five year mark. Order placed dammit.

This is the only Sucaba I’ve ever had. Found one single bottle in a store a few years ago. I now have a habit of looking for it hidden in any liquor store I venture into
