BIL is asking if I’d want anything from there as he is visiting.

Do they have cans/growlers worth trying? Stuff that I couldn’t get in NY?

Not sure if DFH has much special stuff these days, Revelation is pretty middle-of-the-road.

As far as the Delaware Beach breweries go, Dewey would probably be my favorite. Still nothing I'm over the moon about but if you like fruited sours they're definitely worth checking out, and the IPA is pretty decent. Have also had a couple good lagers from them, and they have two locations in that area.

There's a few Dogfish locations in the area -- might want to confirm which before nailing anything down. The main brewery in Milton definitely has some to-go options that either see very limited release or you wouldn't typically see in NY. They have brewery-only releases available in growlers, also carry a bunch of vintage iterations of the high ABV stuff, if that's your style.

I'd skip Revelation, personally. It's a great little stop in-person when biking from Lewes to Rehobeth, but otherwise kinda forgettable. Agreed with the above assessment on Dewey as well.

Thirded for Dewey. We spent a week in Lewes/Rehoboth last year, and I enjoyed Dewey's beer the most out of the few breweries I hit. They had the most "modern" tasting beers. Their house yeast must give their hazies a bubble gum flavor which I kind of like.

I'd say that the original DFH location in Milton is definitely worth a visit just for the experience. Like William said, they do have a lot of unique things available that are brewery only both on draft and at their shop. I wouldn't say that their beers are mind blowing by today's standards. I drank a lot of 60 minute IPA in college, so it was worth visiting the original location just to say that I've been there. Their staff is also extremely friendly. I've been to something like 100 breweries, and they easily rank at the top or near the top for me in terms of customer service.

Absolutely -- seconding your thoughts on the "experience" of DFH, but unfortunately it doesn't sound like OP is going. I miss the days at DFH of free tasters and the bigger outdoor area with plenty of bocce courts / yard games but it's still a much more fun afternoon than most other breweries I've been to. And yeah, the "unique" beers are for sure hit or miss (I do think that's part of the point, they love concocting things just to see how they turn out for the tasting room).

That was great while it lasted! We’d always stop by on the way to the beach, get free flights and play some bocce. Still go pretty regularly— it’s a great spot.

The Rehoboth brewpub usually has a different set of exclusive beers, without much overlap with the brewery. The brewpub is also the only place that cans exclusive beers.

Pro tip: It isn’t listed anywhere, but at both the brewery and brewpub you can get a 10oz size pour of anything without much markup.

Did you have any beers from Thompson Island Brewing Company during your visit? If so, what did you think of those beers?

    Cheers!

P.S. I discussed a Sly Fox/Dewey collaboratively brewed beer earlier today in the NBW thread:

I was in Rehoboth on vacation last week and can echo the comments here. Both the DFH brewpub and brewery in Milton are must stops imo. While they aren’t as experimental as they were ten years ago, everything I had was worth the price of admission. Also the draft cocktails were tasty too if that’s your thing.

Also, Dewey brewing rocks. I had an early dinner at the original brewery and the food, service and beers were all top notch.

I also ate dinner at Thompson Island. The food was really damn good, and the beer was on the same level as Iron Hill. I’d go back.

Revelation was trash. Don’t waste your time or money.

I did go to Thompson Island. They're part of a restaurant group that also owns Blue Coast restaurant and Ocean View brewery. Food and beers were both great. I got their no bad days lager and big pine DIPA. Nothing groundbreaking, but good enough beers to pair with good food. I agree with Chroma about the food.

I'll also throw out Big Oyster brewery. If you're into raw bar, they have a great happy hour. I remember enjoying their beers quite a bit too.

I think most of the Dogfish head stuff that was unique got cancelled when the company was bought. seaquench is pretty good but you can get that in NY

I know Iron Hill is a chain, but I find their beers surprisingly good for that sort of place. Food is decent also.

Don't worry, you really didn't miss out on much. Even Dewey would be close to middle of the pack at most good shops here.
