My pleasure. Really glad you enjoyed it so much! I had a feeling you would. They're the real deal when it comes to IPA's. Let me know if you ever come out my way to check out any breweries! Hoping 3 Floyds gets their act together and reopens their brewpub soon.

    Good afternoon NBW
Another surviver bottle I found on a recent trip to Ft. Wayne. Not sure how long it had been sitting in that particular store as the date code is a riddle.
    Avery Tangerine Quad

22oz bottle stamped F25 2.76 10:40 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 11.2% ABV per label. The beer pours muddy medium amber with khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island with minimal lacing. The aroma is mild with oak barrel, brown sugar, and slight citrus. The taste is semisweet malt, rich with bourbon and barrel before bright citrus pops through. Final bitterness is mild. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. ABV is fairly well disguised. Overall, very good.

    Cheers all!

I have one more new beer this weekend.

Saison D'Epeautre from Brasserie de Blaugles. 6% ABV.

Pours with a light haze, but that clears up after a minute. A pale straw/yellow color. A pillow like white head rises and sticks around for a little bit. As that recedes, lace is left behind.
Aroma has some basement like musk and "funk" but subtle up front. Lemon zest, peppery spice, light esters of pear. A very nice aroma.
Taste wise, oh, got to love that musky funk. It never takes over, but is always there in the background. Lemon rind, peppery spice, fruity esters of pear and grapes. Cracker like malts. Just a touch of grassy hops to balance and round everything out. This is wonderful.
A medium body, with a perfect effervescent bite. Crisp, super dry, and even refreshing. I need to get more of this, as it is really enjoyable to drink and come back to.

This is a spot on example of the style. Just enough funk (not skunk) to satisfy, and everything else is so well balanced. This is why I love the style. Well done all around.

Overall score is 4.19, easy A-

The only thing really wrong with this, is a green bottle ha. Though since I didn't get a skunked bottle, as I took "precautions" ha, I had no worries there.

Good Sunday afternoon Advocates! A beer that is not just not new to me, but new…issued this week with just 2 check-ins on Untappd. I just tried it on tap at the brewery and liked it so I got a 4pk to go - Cigar City’s “Family Reunion Bastet”, a an Imperial Porter collab with Bastet Brewing:

Canned 8/21/23. Poured at 52°. Dark brown/ruby see through body; clarity under one finger of creamy mousse-like tan head; soapy lace; good cap retention; solid ring. Roast malt nose. Mild bitter roast entry; bitter sweet dark chocolate; not sweet; mild bitterness from hops. Medium light body; moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 8.5% abv. Overall, a very enjoyable porter, clean and roasty with no adjuncts. I’d gladly drink more of this beer.

Jon, I'm looking forward to getting down there again this fall. They serve pretty good food there. Since they also distribute beer they must have spent the megabucks to buy a plenary license to go with the brewery license (if this doesn't make sense to everyone else, trust me it's a Jersey thing; we have ridiculously antiquated laws here).

Pours a clear, dark brown hue; opaque in the glass; thick, dense head, light khaki colored, long-lasting. Pleasant dark roasted grain aroma with a slight note of cocoa; subliminal touch of hop spiciness. Soft , nuanced flavors of chocolate and earthy spiciness and grain char; moderate sense of bitterness. Smooth and medium-bodied mouthfeel; soft stickiness; minuscule touch of dryness near the finish.

A nice, nuanced dark lager, smooth and tasty

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Swiggers and commentators. I'm reviewing my last new beer from my visit to Cushwa Brewing Co. in Williamsport, MD, on Friday. It's called Unintended Consequences. It's an 8% New England IPA hopped with Nelson, Mosaic, and El Dorado. And it's another first rate offering.

It's a murky, dirty tangerine color with a huge, egg-white head and thick, creamy lacing. A very nice New England appearance. It has a fragrant, fruity nose featuring lemon, lime, pineapple, tangerine, and ripe melon. The taste follows with sweet tropical fruit and peach pith and stone fruit from the Mosaic and El Dorado hops. But it's the Nelson that shines here with its signature dry white wine and pine notes. Some brewers who lead with Nelson tend to overdo it but Cushwa shows a deft hand. The flavors are present but they're gentle, although It finishes with some hop burn particularly as it warms. The balance of sweet and bitter is excellent. The mouth feel is great, as well - plush and creamy with appropriate carbonation, and the 8% ABV is just right - you can have a second pour (I did) without issue. Overall, despite the name I think this NEIPA reflects what Cushwa must have intended because it's first rate.

A rich a decadent stout, a little weak in appearance and aroma, but definitely packs a delicious taste and lingering, memorable mouthfeel. Hides it's gigantic ABV well.

Sounds like the opposite of my evening haha, sounds like a pretty great special evening though with traveling family and all.

Oh I definitely will, it is so weird. I know you can relate so...I know I should literally just sit and relax but at the same time it is such a foreign feeling to me these days. Shortly after I'll start missing the kids too and then an hour after they'll home I'll be thinking "man I need a break" :joy: it is such a bizarre cycle.

I think this is pretty old but it is just too damn accurate and it cracks me up...I'm taking this drug today...

Greetings all from the great northwest where we are having a late August heat wave. Temps in the upper 90s.

Today we have 20 weeks of POW IPA from Scuttlebutt brewing.

It looks like a winter beer. No freshness date on the can. New to me and new to the site. Been a while since I have added a beer. It's another in a long line of hazy fruity beers this summer.

    Until next time

    Evening.
On what was forecast to be a rainy day, Im outside on the pool deck chillin with Iris so I'd throw out a quick one.
    phantasticality DIPA
Apparently brewed with a "dry hop" of Phantasm powder. I've had a couple with this new tricky little thing.
Hazy orange/gold on the beautiful pour..a large creamy eggshell head rises, takes a breath and slowly recedes to a nice foamy 1/2" that hangs. Tons of sticky lacing. Really nice looking beer.
I always stick my snoz right up to that top with these types of beers and yes right away I get big gooseberry! And yes I know what they taste ech, and smell like. My and my neighbor picked them when we were kids..any too much already. So after the pour the gooseberry, slightly tart white grape, peach, pineapple.
Taste white grapes, and tropicals, white peach, big fruit flavors.
Med body for 8% barely detectable. The mild sweetness lasts so briefly and then that bitterness - yup like grape skins - hits you in layers - skins, finishing with pine and grapefruit rind.
Oils coat the tongue and linger.
    Gets to drying though.
This is really good to me. It does have so many characteristics of those grapes you might want to contemplate: Is this a hybrid?
Forget that - it's a really enjoyable brew.
ABTW Everytime I see a new Ketllehead I think to myself that can't be good, they just crank these things out. Almost everything I've tried has a certain twist making it different.
Anyway enough! Cheers and enjoy your new or not new beers.[IMG] [IMG]

Going to keep it simple. A lovely counterpart to Copper Legend. Just an exercise of clean, nuanced malt body met with tidy, spicy hops upfront that settle on the palate. The mouthfeel is lovely, it’s rounded and there’s a hint of sweetness all throughout.

Besides that, it looks beautiful. I’m probably biased as team wiesn but wow, very impressed. Just lovely.

Pours a bright mango color with a subtly unfiltered appearance and a foamy pearl white head that provides significant lacing and caps the beer on its entire journey. Gorgeous beer.

The nose features loads of mango, papaya, guava, pineapple, and candied orange notes. This beer is setting up especially well for my palate. I gotta admit, I love when that happens.

The taste is all about the bitterness that settles at the back of your palate after enjoying the vibrant mango, candied orange, papaya, guava, and pineapple flavors you experience up front. If you don’t enjoy bracingly bitter WCDIPA’s, avoid this beer at all costs.

If you do enjoy those OG beers, as I do so much, this beer is your jam, especially with the full, exceptionally dry mouthfeel. I found this listed on the 3F’s website as 74 IBU’s and 98 IBU’s.

It is definitely the latter, IMHO. And if it moved from the “Limited Release IPA’s” category to always available, it would be in my beer fridge every day of the year.

Thick, very dark brown, small light brown head. The empty glass had a lovely tan film. Beautiful beer. Nose says coconut and vanilla, unfortunately this was just a bit to sweet. Very thick body, creamy and smooth, carbonation was spot on. I would love to try this without the addedjunk....oh yeah, aged 20 months in Willet Rye Barrels and the ABV was well hidden, but it did provide some heat.

You probably know this quote but given your profession, your avatar, and your home state...a local brewery posted this quote the other day:

"To know Jersey is to love her."

RIP Anthony...I still smile when I think about him and how he somehow got so much through to so many people.

This is the beer I was hoping to find today with no luck, just Copper Legend, which I'll admit I've never been that big a fan of. Hopefully this one shows up eventually.

True. I will always miss my hometown. Even though I was born on Staten Island but was just a baby when we moved to the J. Red Bank, Montvale, HP..and Paramus Park was the shit. Orange Julius, The Crepe place, Sam Goody! I still remember the day I bought Frampton Comes Alive. They had the double album plastered all over the entrance. My best friend who is now a top Master and I would analyze records....break that stuff down. He took that and made a career out of it. Highly successful- I can send a link if your interested. We used to play alot of beatles songs- I was on drums then he was on bass or guitar. Great times those years were.
