Interesting! Has New Glarus ever brewed a Scotch Ale?

Not sure if they have but eager to try it. Hopefully it's a true Wee Heavy and not some 7% nonsense. Under appreciated style imo.

CW quietly released a new batch of their BA Scotch Ale and it's top notch.

I feel like it’s been a long time since Uff Da has hit shelves.

Sadly, neither Fat Squirrel nor the Scotch Ale had made it to Kenosha this past weekend when the wife and I went up for our annual autumnal Tenuta's/Lake Geneva Country Meats stockup. Had to "settle" for Staghorn.

Also, one of the well-known tourist traps up there may not have the cleanest tap lines.

No need to hold back, you can share as a PSA for the rest of us.

    But I can guess.

Brat stop? One of the grossest beers I’ve ever drank.

My Staghorn was fine, but the wife's Moon Man was flat and off.

So... you're saying it was the Stop, not the Castle?

Were your beers served in 8 oz. mock pilsner glasses?

I'd have avoided both -- Highway Mike's being right across the highway.

But I'm intrigued by LG Country Meats -- pencilled in for my next trip to the area.

I loved Mike's the first time I went there a good decade ago. A few years later, it seemed to have fallen on hard times -- literally the first three drafts I tried to order from the menu had kicked and the food wasn't as good as previous.

    Hmm. How long ago?

And having hit the Stop pretty often over my time, can you still say that's a better choice over Mike's? :grimacing:

Yeah, reading clearly between my lines -- I never understood the draw to the Brat Stop. And yet, it's still open. Big shrug.

Man, people really like to question other people's choices needlessly in an odd attempt to demonstrate their superiority or something lol.

If you still like Mike's, good on ya! We'll continue to hit the Brat Stop every year or two for a link and some tots.

Maybe a bit off topic, but since we're discussing the Kenosha area Tenuta's had some amazing shelf turds when I was there not too long ago. Plenty of 3F lambics and happened across a 2013 Founder's Imperial Stout (that ended up being flat so maybe not so amazing).

WTF? It was just a question. What was that about needless attempt?

Nevermind my trying to decide where I might go next, sorry if I insulted your favorite place (that you already told us was disappointing), but I guess I don't need your input -- solidly noted.

(and don't bother answering my question about the joint in Lake Geneva, I guess I don't want to go there either)

What do y'all think of Uff-da and the Scotch Ale? I had an Uff-da tonight and liked it. I feel like it's been a while since that's been out, or maybe I just missed it the last time. Over in the bock thread in the Beer Talk forum I wondered why there are so few "regular" bocks, as opposed to doppelbocks. The "top beers" page for bocks doesn't even have 100 beers, plus most of the ones that are on the list seem to be local, without wide distribution. And there just aren't a lot of German bocks. (There's a lot of German doppelbocks.)

Also picked up some Scotch Ale but haven't had one yet. At 9.75% it looks to be a bit of a shitkicker.

Would love to see NG bring back unplugged bohemian pilsner. That beer was phenomenal! Also would love to see the return of Dancing Man and Black Wheat.
