I drink about 8 pints of water a day. I feel a lot better and less bloated when I drink a bunch of water

nowadays 8 pints of beer gets me hammered. I don’t get hammered often at all any more I don’t like the way I feel the next day

There’s nothing wrong with it at all. Me personally though I’ve worked 12 hour night shifts 7p-7a for years and the only thing I feel like doing when I get off is passing out :grimacing:

When I lived in the westside of Grand Rapids, there were several neighborhood bars near industrial shops that opened at 6am to serve 3rd shift workers.

Also, high infant mortality rate. If you made it to 5, high chance you made it to your 60-70s.

When I worked 3rd shift, I needed to blow off way more steam than when I worked 1st or 2nd shift. Sleep schedule completely disrupted, the loneliness, etc. A couple of beers took the edge off. However, at the most I was only doing it a couple shifts a week here and there to fill in. Can't imagine how tough it is for folks that do it full-time.

Likewise. Once upon a time, I'd play a couple rounds of disc golf, and then go drink 3 or 4 pitchers of SNPA with a buddy. After that we'd sometimes go drink a litro or two of margaritas.

Today that's unimaginable. Hell, I can barely make it through 2 pints now, and even after that I tend to feel impaired. Like you, I hate how I feel the next day if I get polluted the night before, so I tend to avoid it.

Eight pints is one gallon -- almost a case of 12 oz bottles.

A gallon is just shy of 11 12 oz bottles

Most days I have more than 8 pints total of tea plus water. It's not difficult.

Yeah, the traditional US "case" of beer is 2.25 gallons .

    12 oz. X 24 cans/bottles = 288 oz. ÷ 128 oz./gallon = 2.25

The industry, especially the wholesale tier, even uses 2.25 gallons as a unit measurement sometimes referred to by the abbreviation "CE" (Case Equivalent).

For you math fans - the aforementioned 8 pints is 4/9 of a case equivalent. Doesn't seem like a tidy amount. If you dial it back to six pints, now you have a third CE. More manageable in my head.

Obviously, drinking 8 pints of bud select 55 is a bit different then consuming 8 pints of Brewdog Tokio. Abv clearly matters when you're consuming that amount of beer.

When I lived in Catonsville (suburb of Baltimore) there was a nearby sports bar I'd visit on occasion during football season. There was this young couple I'd see there every Sunday, and they had a standard routine they would follow. While watching football and playing video poker, they would consume 3 bottles of miller lite every hour. This was from around 11:00 to 9:00 pm, as they would eat lunch and dinner there as well. I chatted up the bartender about the couple (I was there by myself and I'm easily entertained), and she indicated that for the most part they were always well behaved, didn't cause any problems, and just tended to make frequent bathroom trips (shocking, no?).

In other words, they were consuming at least a case of beer each Sunday, but it was over a 10 hour period and they were having food. Probably a bad idea for someone in their 50s or 60s, but it didn't seem to be doing them any harm.

Welllllll... 8 US pints equals one US gallon. Can't get tidier* than that.

Pittsburgh (Iron City)Brewing Co. even once sold their 16 oz. bottles in 8 packs noting that.

    * Of course, actual TIDE comes in a 1.17 gallon container. Not so tidy. Also, known as 4.43 liters but my town recycles this type of plastic - who throw them in the road and contribute to the litter problem?

    Yea man.
I see this thread is older. But that doesn’t take away from drinking 8 pints I’d be on the toilet for hours haha

I used to go to a lot of car races. Early in the spring and in the fall, when the local tracks weren't yet running or had finished their seasons, we'd travel all around the Northeast and campout at the track. We always budgeted a case a day, per person for the beer stash.

If the races were at night, we all day to prefunk. If the races were during the day, we had all night around the fire. We'd load up a portable cooler, and walk around to the other campsites and talk with folks. Many, many Genny Creams fulfilled their earthly duties at these events.

In addition to the beers we brought with us, we'd try to find whatever "local" beers were available in the pre-microbrew era we could. At Martinsville Virginia, we were introduced to Cherry Bounce, a mason jar full moonshine and cherries. Good stuff.

Eight pints a day? At my age now, that would amount to an extra 16 trips a day to the bathroom.

Tea helps fight cancer, including cancers you don't realize you have. It's worth a few extra trips to the restroom.

I am 73 and a misdiagnosed cancer survivor. Tea consumption may have saved my life.

This thread reminds me of that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" episode where the gang has a contest to see who can replicate the apocryphal story of Wade Boggs putting back like 70 beers on a cross-country flight.
