Good morning BAs! Time to rise and shine, it’s coffee time - KBS:

Bottled 5/1/23. Poured at 52°. Bourbon, coffee, chocolate. What’s not to like?

Getting back to my old schedule, early to bed, early to rise. Nothing on my calendar today, so I’ll just take it easy. Have a great day y’all, and Cheers!

    Good morning advocates and DoctorZombies!

Also early to rise, crashed in bed quickly yesterday after watching a dramatic movie about a troubled maid and the parents of two toddlers inspired and based on true events that happened ten years ago in NY. No nightmares, but the movie turned out as fairly predictable and way too grim.

Chimay Brown is in my chalice this am.

Better, slowly but slightly better. Thanks to the PT and efforts on my end. There’s no restriction to walking as long as I can and depending on the pain. Just need to strengthen those legs muscle. How’s life in Florida?

Ah, we almost all do. It’s been a really odd summer around NW Europe, hot and sunny for weeks to cool and rainy for some other weeks to still quite warm now. Moody as can be. Cheers!

My schedule has become quite the opposite. Since going on short-term disability until I get my sleep disorder figured out, I've become a night owl. I want to work to correct that, though. I'd prefer to become a morning person again.

Drinking a Gnommegang. This will probably be my last post for the night/morning, as my phone died and I'm on my PC. But, my goodness--this might be my favorite American version of the Belgian golden strong ale I've tried thus far. I've had some great American Tripels and saisons, but this is more specifically in the vein of Duvel and La Chouffe, and Ommegang did a marvelous job. This beer makes me happy, too, in a way, because it's a sort of reclamation of Ommegang's identity. They've been so caught up in the past few years making hazy IPAs and sours, that this feels like they're reclaiming their Belgian beer identity--and it tastes great.

Now, I'm going to eat some food and watch Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and then go to sleep.

    Welcome back,
those like me (and countless other people) who don't have the possibility to independently choose their summer vacation period, but have to submit to the rules of the world of work, have already returned to work by now.
I hope you had a good summer holiday and have recovered the strength necessary for the daily battle.
I went at a slow pace: little internet, just sea air, nature and quality food and drink.
There was no shortage of opportunity to write a couple of notes on the beers I brought with me.
So, I'm not drinking this one right now but I have some backlog from August to share:

It's a historic Amarican pale Ale from this brewery commonly known as "Birra Perugia", over the years I have had the opportunity to drink it several times both in bottles and on tap at the pub.
The name is a reference to the 7 hops used in dry-hopping: Citra, Mosaic, Motueka, Galaxy, Chinook, Calypso and Sorachi Ace.
Immediately fragrant aromas of tropical fruit and citrus on the nose.
When poured, it produces a normal foam, soft but which never disappears completely.
Deep blonde color, tending towards orange, not very opaque.
In the mouth usually drunk full from a gustatory point of view: explosion of exotic and summer fruit (passion fruit, melon, yellow peach, ripe plums/plums) which is counterbalanced by a more sour and bitter taste of citrus fruits (grapefruit, cedar, orange peel) with herbaceous reflections. Malty note in the background.
The finish is dry, moderately bitter which cleans the tongue and leaves fruitiness on the palate.
The beer has a medium body and is well carbonated: it seems in a good shape.
A product that I know well and which is always reliable in terms of taste and quality.
Personally, I wouldn't have minded a slightly more incisive bitterness, but in any case I don't consider it a flaw in this very tasty beer.

Arrived in Corfe a little earlier than planned. Pubs not open for lunch yet, so a quick can at the castle while we wait!

Lunch and another Moonlite. You can just about see Corfe Castle in the background of the pub garden, if you squint hard enough...

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today is my last day in Regensburg, and having spent most of the day wandering the old town I'm now enjoying a Kapunziner Weissbier beside the Danube.

A few hours ago I dropped in at Regensburg's Brauhaus Am Schloss, the brewery attached to Schloss St.Emeram and it's imposing Basilika. The brewery's beers appear to be brewed on contact by Augustiner (if I wasn't lazy is look it up) and so I went with an IPA - the first I've had in Germany - to break up the lagers and wheatbeers.

@beergoot I saw your package from Australia in your post from yesterday's WBAYDN. All I can say is you're very lucky as Australia Post is notoriously shit!

@snaotheus, the Danube does indeed look like the Isar - we camped by it for the three days before coming to Regensburg.

Mate, it's been nothing but beautiful weather since I got here (admittedly only five days ago!) and very reminiscent of an Australian summer. Im loving it!

This won’t be as eventful a post as some of those so far this morning. Just another day working from home, but since I’m the closer, might as well hang out downstairs for a bit til I need to log in. Drinking a Monday Night Brewing Anniversary on Tuesday morning. Tasty.
