Tried RBBT 23 last night. Glad to have the opportunity to do so but really struggling to see what makes it stand out amongst its peers. The moutfeel was really the only thing that stood out about it to me. Other than that, it seemed to be a relatively basic barrel aged stout. It was good, no doubt. Just not life changing in the regard I anticipated it to be. Cheers.

you can’t expect these beers to be magical or life changing. There’s virtually nothing new or innovative about beer within the last few years compared with the decade before it. If you’ve had a bbt before, it isn’t going to blow your mind now.

that’s all bbt is, a really good expression of a basic ba stout, just aged in rye barrels.

I’d argue unless you’re just a rye fanatic, regular BBT is better. Cory has older stock and more barrels to pick from to create a well rounded blend of regular each year.

Coming from someone who generally loves rye, and had them side by side, I didn't think any rye characteristics were able to significantly retain or perhaps break through like I've found they have in other beers. Perhaps the beer is just too overwhelmingly thick and blanketing tbh.

I definitely found the rye to be more aromatic than flavorful. I was overwhelmed with the nose upon opening but it didn't translate well into flavor.

First time ever having Maple in the Wood. I can't believe I've waited this long to try it--what a beer.

I bought a bottle of DBMITW at one of the LC parties, and it was great, but the double barrel sort of steamrolled the maple quite a bit. I think it still shines on the regular version.

I wanted to come back and say that perhaps I am particularly sensitive to the PH levels right now, and maybe my response to Loam was unfair. I opened a Single farm a couple days later, and although it was bright, citrusy, and more or less what I would want in the beer, the acid level just punished me. I mean, for me it was a legitimate chore to drink. I don’t think anyone else has said that.

Loam is still in the fridge, and I have been taking a swig everyday, seeing how it changes as the carb changes. Tomorrow I plan to have a glass and see how it is without the carb level. Maybe it won’t effect me as much.

Can we get some BBT 2024 information? FFS.

The acid might be melting your brain. 2024 info will come out next year.

2023 info is likely coming. IG post for 2022 was on October 26th. Release to the public was on November 6th.

The LC store picked a hell of a day to quit sniffing glue.

Edit: Finally loaded. One and done for me. That's a spicy 375ml.

Now that I've gotten out of the FOMO phase of needing to get every beer they release, I'm just asking myself if I'd rather have that bottle or 4 bottles of the mango and tangerine La Belle Fleur. Those were going down too quickly at the cellar this weekend

So they sold it to non-Cory’s? Bastards.

I wonder if these are only going LC? I hope they pop up at the anniversary.

You know...I think traders can fly their own flags to trade up for whales or trade down for quantity how they please. I've traded lots of stuff to track down bottles I've loved or missed, etc. I won't trade-shame anyone who sends stouts for sours, or East Coast for West. You do you.

But I'm left shaking my head at how many people tried flipping 1 or more of these bottles immediately. Shoot your shot, okay, but there's a line between trading for a hard to find bottle and speculating on value. That's not even acknowledging the people who razz or sell, and not just limiting to member bottles.

Seeing a dozen trades sitting open and the beer still available over an hour later brings me a happiness so warm and cozy that I can lay my head on it tonight. Hopefully those $65 375s end up in the glass of people who might actually want to drink it, rather than get stranded waiting for the ISO:W12 train that never comes.

And it’s the same locals in LC and on here that are on MBC, etc. Those in the resell game are shameless and shitty.

I had someone reach out to me about a trade I posted regarding a bottle for charity (For Alex, SP involved). Maybe I’m out of line for trading one of my bottles, don’t think so, but they bought it and resold it for profit, more than double. Fuck them/that.
