Yup. Disappointing. Must not have had many boxes considering so many of us didn’t get one?

Nothing is closing trade-wise, asks and offers far apart. Will be interesting to see where this settles

Just for reference… My ridiculous comment was about the flippers already having sets up on MBC.

I am super curious on box count because that went much quicker than I anticipated.

I imagine most with sense will wait and see how many bottles will be moved this weekend out of the garage and let the values settle

Seemed like at least 600-700 based on the amount that was left after we purchased

Yeah, to me, this is like the valentines you would bring in grade school. If not enough for everyone, shouldn’t have done it. Too big of a piece for members that missed out.

I’ve never understood why anyone does this. If you want to do an “extra” sale for leftovers and make it spontaneous Fastest fingers, go for it. But I don’t understand not giving all members 1 of something that is new, that will have a public release in some form. I think it unnecessarily looks bad and puts a bad taste in people’s mouth when you didn’t have to.

It absolutely does, especially some of your most loyal customer base.

I get that the fastest-finger, or no-limit, or in-person sales are frustrating. I've succeeded and failed on all of those experiences. But the $322.98 question becomes....how should they do it?

Personally, if it's in-person only, I miss out on this. I'm sure others do as well. I'm local, but can't be there Fri-Sun. Maybe it's Online, No Proxy? Does that matter anymore? Or they do drawings like the Silent Barrel tastings? That's a lot to put on the staff during anniversary weekend.

Not trying to be a jerk, I just don't know what the best alternative is.

Real reason there wasn’t enough for all of LC = they blew the wooden box budget on the bubble van for Sunday

Either way, someone isn’t going to be happy. Not sure what the best answer is, but I’m in your shoes. Wouldn’t be able to make it to the releases and I’m a local. But i will say I was shocked at how this one went down.

A lottery or randomized approach really isn’t much overhead.. I’d love to deal with a problem that simple.

Surprised to hear there were ~800 boxes. LC only and still gone in 30 minutes, with no prior notice?

Not sure of everyone else’s situation, but I can’t monitor personal email all day. Doesn’t stop me from being in the (usually nearly empty) cellar every weekend, though.

Oh well. Not the end of the world, but it DOES leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Sorry, meant to quote JPick to commiserate about being stuck on meetings.

Edit: although a big +^#^* to the clowns who buy this stuff just to make a couple hundred dollars.

Not an LC member, but personally I think that each member being guaranteed the option to buy the set and then whatever is left over being put out for public sale (whether via lottery or first come first serve online or in person) would be the best method of selling the beers.

    All good, man.

Buying beers to sell just never has made sense to me. The time and effort you have to put in for what is typically a smallish profit (I know there are some cases, like this for example, where it’s not so small but in general…) doesn’t seem worth it.

It’s especially shitty to get the LC member book earlier the same day, featuring the box set, and then to miss out on said box set. Adding insult to injury. The right way to do this was to say F the box, we care about our members and want them all to get these bottles. But they chose the option that would instead disappoint hundreds of their most loyal customers.
