Granted, Matt was asked to "write a piece about his love of the beer, along with his experience of meeting Paul Theakston in the early days of Black Sheep." Albeit, this was after he had already spoke highly of the brewery...he does touch on the Breal Purchase Black Sheep Best Bitter — The Stalwart | Black Sheep Brewery --- ---- Annabel is also mentioned/quoted in the write-up: she is a notable (industry) figure, who has been cited in prior post(s) “Black Sheep Best Bitter pioneered the way for a lot of the newer, craftier beers emerging throughout the noughties: immensely drinkable, accessible, a gateway beer for many novice ale drinkers…It introduced a new generation of drinkers to the beauty of cask ale” - Annabel Smith
Well, it was a coincidence that I had these beers on 9/27, but the coincidence causes me to share the pics. Started with an Old Glenham Loom Cornish Ale... 4.8% from cask. Call it whatever type you will. Followed it with a half of kegged London Pride. Sold as pale ale in the past and amber ale in the present... it's still a proper best bitter. Really enjoyed both.

@ChicagoJ - Decent condition with eased protection through the blanketed CO2: natural processes at play without staling hiccups. Given this a week permitted the ‘acceptable’ off-flavors that’s often not found via the aid < 3 days…a few more days & this would be/is a dead ale Visual(s) above are with the sparkler: The two below pertain to a non-sparkler dispense + the setup

Odd Bird Brewing Cask Day. This Saturday, October 7th, we will be tapping three different casks of Real Ale: Plumage British Pale Ale, Thicket Best Bitter, and Burrow Nut Brown Ale! All three are naturally carbonated in the cask and will be poured via gravity on the bar. (We will also have the draft versions available to compare and contrast). This weekend we will also be releasing our new Märzen-style Lager.

“British beer has cask beer, which nobody else (really) does, and yet we are in danger of loosing it…it needs government intervention to solve it as a problem. Otherwise, the beer of Britain will disappear…” – John Keeling #118 John Keeling | A career in beer – The Brewers Journal Short discussion, where John examines his time at Wilsons & Fullers. The conversation touches on Black Cap Stout, which is being revisited, as well as Fullers’ influence over other US breweries (e.g. Garrett Oliver, John Hall). John brings up the sale of Fuller’s, working “with some brilliant brewers”, taproom essentials, etc…
