This is the first time in a while where we have no idea of any upcoming releases.

    BBT excluded obviously.

Doesn’t something normally drop immediately after BBT pickups end? That would be a good one for that.

I mean, I bought that it WAS a staff sale, I just don’t understand why they would do it online. Presumably this is for extras, and people already got one? But seems weird to do a fastest fingers for staff? And if not, then why not let people just buy it in person and save some money? Just seems bizarre.

We didn’t get BBT emails til 10/29 last year. So it could be a quiet couple weeks. Or just a sour release between now and then. Wouldn’t really expect a stout or barleywine release considering what they just released.

I mean, why do you think it’s a fastest finger thing? It was limited to 1pp on the page, they have 30+ staff now, seems like if they already have the website working (since it’s set up for la coterie), they can just allocate the number of employees to each beer and put it online, it’s fulfilled the same way as all their other sales, and probably helps with inventory control. I think the convenience of it for both SP and staff outweighs the perceived bizarreness in this case.

Continuance 3 packages went up the middle of October last year. Blend 4 hasn’t/may not get a public release, but I’ll throw that in the ring as a possibility between now and BBT23.

Is the suggestion that the employee side purchase was made live and popped up in the public domain online? That’s what I’m gathering. I’ve never heard of that, obviously accidental, an online sale for brewery employees. Normally breweries would either tell employees bottles won’t be available to staff for a release and or the sale would be/can be done pre shift/release etc., and inventory is easily accounted for. Surprised employees would go “last”. Knock that inventory out early and done for public release.

Employees should have to deal with the random bullshit e-mail drops like the rest of us.

It was commented on Facebook post by a SP staff member that what happened yesterday was that the bottles that were only supposed to show in the ‘staff section’ somehow showed up on the main page. All the non staff who ordered yesterday were refunded. As for the staff buying online or after public, don’t have a take on that really. Just saying it seems pretty convenient to tell staff if they want it, go buy through this link and pick up at your convenience.

I mean, I don’t think it is nefarious or anything, it just seems a lot less easy to set it up online and make people go online than to just buy it when they come into work. Why take the time to add it to a shop and everything unless they are already adding it to their online shop for something else. It just seems like an unnecessary extra step. But, if that is easiest for them, then great, they have a good system. Just seemed odd is all.

This is officially the silliest thing I have talked about in this thread.

With the new site platform as well as some of the Shopify issues over the last couple months, it’s also possible they did it that way to test the site for possible issues that could arise in future sales.

If there are any Side Project locals who inexplicably somehow make it up to PA or Ohio or anywhere close to Pittsburgh in the near future and don’t mind muling back a box of beer, shoot me a holler. My amazing amazing buddy has some beer for me but he doesn’t like to ship and I’m not sure if I’ll be making it down that way any time soon.
