Erle, a Rauchbier from German brewery Schlenkerla (4.2%).

Just with Weichsel, this is another excellent addition to Schlenkerla's lineup, with a great synergy of Schwarzbier and Rauchbier. The smoke is milder and slightly sweeter here as well, compared to the usual beech smoke, with a strong earthy quality.

Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest (5.8%): An authentic German Märzen that has flavors of earthy Munich malts, grains, bread, and yeast. Dry and drinkable.

Authentic German Märzen here. Flavors are a bit milder, but it's dry, clean, and drinkable. Not going to get tons of flavor here, but the drinkability is great.

German Oktoberfest Märzen Rankings from today:
    1) Ayinger:
Hard to beat and there's some excellent flavor complexity in this one
    2) Warsteiner: Very impressive flavors. Sort of reminds me of a Hofbrau in it's rich and sweeter profile.
    3) Hacker Pschorr: Sure, not the most flavor here, but if I was drinking Märzens all-day under the tents, this would definitely be the most drinkable Märzen of the bunch. I'm thoroughly enjoying all three which are perfect for this drizzly Friday October 13th afternoon.

So the first beer from South Line Brewing Co is Intercity IPA, hopped with Magnum, Amarillo, Centennial, Citra, and Mosaic. How can you go wrong? This is a nice opening day offering. I wish South Line great success! Cheers, mates. It’s time to find some dinner.

Spent a couple of hours on a beer zoom with my buddy from work. Had a Stone IPA and a Sip of Sunshine. Having another Sip of Sunshine after making some excellent jerked wings for dinner. And, some excellent, genuine swamp ash ..

Thanks Hunter - I used a dried jerk seasoning from Spice Jungle - best dried jerk seasoning I've found. Their spices are the best, really aromatic and fresh. I threw the wings in a ziploc and then poured a little Grapeseed oil over them and then added two TBSP of the dried jerk seasoning. Shake em up and onto the baking sheet they go - 400 degrees F for 1 hour.
