Just noticed Fest of Both Worlds and Munich Fest have virtually the same rating/number of reviews under the Festbier category here on BA.

People seem to really enjoy them too.

I'm hoping to try that last one. Maybe they'll do some other oated versions--Smoke and Dagger seems prime for that treatment.

Jack's Abby Hoponius Union, 6.5% - my favorite hop profile! Cheers! :beers:

-Look: Beautiful clear deep golden amber with a thick creamy head.
-Aroma: Wonderful grapefruit and mild orange, slight pine, light toast.
-Taste: Delicious mild grapefruit and citrus, one pine needle.
-Feel: Pillowy-soft and round, smooth lager-feel, slightly dry.
-Overall: This is still the one that can scratch my itch!

-This is 30-days old and doesn't get any better! Cheers!

Jack's Abby Hoponius Union, 6.5% - today I let this warm up more, so no chill-haze. Years ago I always had Jack's Abby around - I even came up with this formula for my favorite beer:

Value = (Taste x Availability / Price). So my favorite beer is Hoponius Union (Taste [4.75] x Availability [100%] / Price [$13/12-pack]). It's still only $15! Cheers! :beers::nerd:

Finally found some Fest of Both over the weekend. Nice one, prefer it to Copper Legend but not quite on the level of German imports.

Damn, a rare find this late in the season!

    I agree with your assessment.

Hoponius Union, 6.5% - Cut through the haze. Brewed with Citra and Centennial hops, step infusion mash. You're holding on to the OG Hoppy Lager! Hoponius was brewed to prove lagers could compete with West Coast IPAs and bring beautifully bitter flavors and fruity aromas to a crisp lager.

    Nailed it! Cheers! :beers:

@JacksAbbyBrewing I just saw in the newsletter that Red Tape is making a comeback for the fall/winter after not being on the 2023 release calendar. Are you all in a generous mood and still planning to release the spiced holiday bock as well in Dec.?

I discussed Bella Lago Pilsner earlier today in the NBW thread:

Will this be a Bella (beautiful) beer?

I was grocery shopping at my local Wegmans supermarket and I was quite pleased to see a stack of new (well, new to me) beers from Jack’s Abby: Bella Lago.

This beer is marketed via the so-called Italian Pilsner beer sub-style.

The name Bella Lago translates to Beautiful Lake as detailed in the beer’s description on the Jack’s Abby website:

    “Bella Lago

    Italian Style Pilsner

    September Release

The Italian translation of this name is ‘beautiful lake’, which captures our inspiration for this Italian Style Pilsner. Dry hopped with a blend of noble & American hops, the pilsner is brite and hoppy with an assertive bitterness and dry finish.

    ABV 4.7%”

    On the can it states:

    “Imported Pilsner Malt”

    And:

    “Decoction Mashed”

I conducted a web search to learn more specifics about this beer (e.g., specific hop varieties used, malt bill, etc.) but I had no luck here.

Served in my Polish Pilsner glass:

    Appearance:

Straw yellow colored with a big white head which dissipated fairly quickly.

    Aroma:

Anintriguing combination of citrus (lemon-like), some herbal and a hint of spice hop aromas.

    Taste:

The flavor follows the nose with a combination of hop flavors detailed above but also some bready malt flavor. There is a firm bitterness

    Mouthfeel:

Medium bodied with a dry finish.

    Overall:

This is a very good beer, I enjoyed drinking. After drinking this beer I wanted a second one.

This is indeed a bella beer!

    Cheers!

There will be a new spiced holiday beer coming out at Thanksgiving. As to a spiced bock, if you are referring to Nordic Frost, that is not spiced, but is scheduled to come out again in Feb.

Well, I considered it a worthy purchase.

If what I detailed in my prior post reads 'good' to you then I would encourage you to buy some.

FWIW, I have never been unhappy with any of the Jack's Abby beers that I have purchased over the past 10+ years.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the update and the correction. For some reason I had it in my mind that Nordic Frost was spiced. Great to hear of the new release and looking forward to NF later in the winter.

I’m with you. I always consider them a safe choice, and usually cheaper than the other craft breweries is also a plus.

I cannot tell you how often I use JA's Lager Locator, especially since the distribution improved. The only downside besides the inability to filter out stores from bars is that it lists places that no longer have a particular beer. Occasionally, it works the other way around — a new arrival is not listed, making it a lovely surprise. Case in point — I walked to a store to pick up Smoke & Dagger and found a case of Red Tape still sitting on a pallet that came from a distributor. Canned last week, and tastes as good as ever.

Jack's Abby House Lager Helles, 5.2% - the hills are alive, with the taste of Helles! :beers:

-Look: Crystal clear yellow with a stark-white fluffy head.
-Aroma: Nice floral grassy hops and mild saltine cracker.
-Taste: Delicious cracker and bread malts, with grassy hops.
-Feel: Starts thin and expands to full, round, and soft. So smooth.
-Overall: Very good Helles that should please any beer lover!

Had one last night, loved it. Not as malty as, say, their house lager which is a good thing for me

Slightly lower ABV, so maybe that has something to do with it.
