I get maybe 4-6 Side Project stouts in a given year, and 3-4 of those are draft / on-site bottles when I visit. With that infrequency, the 750mL format holds a special spot in my heart (and liver) for the handful I get to bring home throughout the year. It's a format I'll open around noon or 1pm and slowly sip on until 6-8pm, refilling my glass once or twice along the way. It's next level getting to experience the depth of the stout over hours as it warms, and I get to turn the event into an all day experience.

I understand why they're going to 375mL, but if they do so for regular BBT, I'm probably out (with the caveat that I'd still purchase a pack of 2x375mL). Not that I'm a big customer by any means, but it's really cutting into the value and experience I get out of these occasional purchases.

Cory addresses Missouri port, his Quad/Rochefort 10 inspiration, developing blends, sourcing/experimenting with exotic oaks + various casks, wood specifications having a regional influence, complications behind triple barreling, Gabe/Anchorage + HoD inspirations, sugar sources vs adjuncts …

That's just the lacquered wood display box the 375mL bottle comes in.

The barrel stock we tasted through to choose the BBT 2023 blend is the exact same stock that we pull from for the Derivations and all of our stouts. We have brewed 22 different imperial stout recipes, aged them in a variety of barrels, and then always thoughtfully selected and blended to achieve our goals, whether it be Beer : Barrel : Time, a new blend of Derivation or the Barrel-Aged Stout Collaborations with one of our friends.

BEER RECIPES : O.W.K., Vibes, Generational, Henry, Sam

BARRELS : Weller 12, Willett Family Estate Bourbon, and Blanton’s

TIME IN BARRELS : 22 to 44 months

There must be a lot of these OH/Monkish collabs if they’re popping up in another beer before they release again

Tho it could be a recipe that they rebrewed right?

That’s definitely something they do. I remember they specifically said that about the Generational recipe a while back.

This was a great listen. I think it’s cool how they don’t always have an end game plan when they fill barrels and just see how things go with them. Or if a brew doesn’t fill all the barrels they’ll use them to double or triple barrel. Like Double Barrel Bourbon Generational was created because they had a single extra barrel.

So it looks like Thursday’s 10th anniversary beer lineup will start pouring at 3 pm. Will these bottles last all day? Contemplating coming down with my best friend who is a Miller Lite drinker and was going to plan some non activities in the afternoon then going to Side Project after dinner, but didn’t want to miss out on these.

Probably not, once they’re gone they’re gone.

It could be but the OG recipes were brewed around the OG invitational so they’d be almost 4 years old at this point.

I wonder if there will be any crossover in the packaged beers between BBT and Cont b4 packages.

That's a steep asking price to end up with duplicate bottles.

    A Note from Cory:

Today we share with you our 7th release of our non-adjunct, pure representation, of Beer, aged in Barrels, for the amount of Time we find necessary.

We always get excited to share beers with you that we know nearly all of you are just as excited about. Today we have BBT 2023 single bottles as well as - in my opinion - maybe the best package we have ever assembled?!

I will let the following explain and describe the beers and package, but I just wanted to quickly say thank you for loving this beer, a Barrel-Aged Stout that defines us in so many ways. We love adjuncts and playing around, but what good are we as brewers if we cannot first share with you the underlying beer, its quality, its finesse, and its blending in a way that continually excites. We love that this beer makes its way all over the world and resonates with so many people the care and attention we put into making this beer.

From the entire Side Project Family, thank you so much and welcome 2023 BBT!

PACKAGE - Beer : Barrel : Time 2023, Tête de Cuvée Vintage 2022, Fermier Vintage 2023, SARA Collaboration Sunrises & Glass
    $200.00

The To-Go Side Project Beer : Barrel : Time 2023 package consists of:

    - Side Project Beer : Barrel : Time 2023 / 750ml Bottle - 15% ABV

An expression of the beer we brew, the barrels we hand-select, and the time in which we patiently age, this is our non-adjunct blend of Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Luxuriously decadent, yet refined and thoughtful, we pursue what this style was and is by sharing with you our purest blend of beer, from barrel with time.

Beer Recipes - O.W.K., Vibes, Generational, Henry, Sam
Barrels - Weller 12, Willett Family Estate Bourbon, and Blanton’s
Time in Barrels - 22 to 44 months 37 months

We believe BBT 2023 showcases the rich chocolate and sweet coconut notes of this massive style while also providing the needed roundness and integration of the bourbon and oak characteristics to produce a harmonious experience.

    - Side Project Tête de Cuvée Vintage 2022 / 750ml Bottle - 7% ABV

Blended Wine Barrel Fermented Missouri Saison
Tête de Cuvée is a blend of some of our finest and oldest wine barrel fermented and aged Saisons. Vintage 2022 contains select barrels of Oude Fermier and Oude du Blé, each of which was barrel fermented in French and American Oak and aged between 12 and 25 months before blending and being naturally conditioned in this bottle.

    - Side Project Fermier Vintage 2023 / 750ml Bottle - 7% ABV

    Oak Aged Missouri Saison
Fermier is a spelt Missouri Saison in which exclusive processes and bottle conditioning techniques to this beer have created a singular experience which showcases our exploration of fermentation with our native microflora. Somewhere between Saison du Fermier and Oude Fermier, we hope you enjoy this limited expression of our flagship Missouri Saison.

    - Side Project / Sante Adairius Rustic Ales Collaboration Sunrises / 750ml Bottle - 7% ABV

Blend of Oak Aged Lager and Saison
Sunrises is a collaboration with our lovely friends at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales. We brewed a lager and then experimented as we did as homebrewers with a precise matrix of Brettanomyces strains as we aged the beer in French Oak Barrels. After 12 months in oak, we wove in threads of Oude Fermier, Home, and Sunsets to push this lager / ale hybrid toward our individual Saison flavor profiles. Sunrises was bottle conditioned for 4 months with cultures from both breweries before sharing with you.
