Routine dental visit and physical therapy this morning, now enjoying a sunny, cool afternoon.

 

After reading this article this morning, I knew some Czech Pils was needed today.

Drinking my way through a scary amount of fresh hop beer I recently purchased. Starting with Fremont Head Full Of Fresh Hops. The label states hazy but it just looks unfiltered to me. Regardless it's really a treat. Happy Halloween gang!

 

1) Drekker Super Freak (8.2% canned 10/10/23): A DDH NEIPA from North Dakota with Vic Secret, El Dorado, and Mosaic for flavors of grapefruit, zesty pineapple, dry mango, and pine. Has a bite.
versus
2) MORE Loose Candies (8.4% no canning date): A DDH NEIPA from Illinois with Vic Secret, El Dorado, and Citra for flavors of orange, pineapple, melon, strawberry, and tropical peach and pineapple. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Drekker Super Freak: A Halloween NEIPA Battle Beer Advocates. First up is Drekker and nearly all of their NEIPAs have an appropriate name or can art for Halloween, but their seasonal Make It Spooky isn't that good and rather this is one of their better ones. Nice grapefruit, pine, and dry mango skins. Definitely has a bite to this one.
Next up is Loose Candies from MORE. Similar hop profile of Vic Secret, El Dorado, but with Citra. It has some fantastic aromas. Some promise of tropical flavors, but sort of ends up with that what I call "stale peach flavor" I often get with some NEIPAs. In terms of candy, does have that Peach-O-Ring candy flavor I suppose. Rated a World-Class NEIPA, but I'm not quite buying it. May have some age since inception and ABV bias with the ratings most likely. Interesting how both have nearly the same hop profile but can taste completely different. Drekker Super Freak for the Halloween win.

Got a little aggressive with the pour, hate wasting beer. I've got to say I like this quite a bit more than the base beer.

 

Zero gravity oktoberfest while me and the,ummm,lovely wife get ready for trick or treaters.

 

3 mile walk, $2 pint Tuesday @ Tap 22. Exile Forager Nut Brown Ale and then a concoction in honor of what would've been my dad's 90th birthday, a Miller High Life with olives and salt. Cheers! Happy Halloween!

I spent some time today digging through my beer fridge—I really need to get rid of some of these old bottles! Will try to consume anything more than 10 years old ASAP, starting with this one, last of my 2012 Parabola. Happy Halloween! Cheers!

 

Hoppy Halloween all!! Having some uber fresh Stone IPA and ready for the minor onslaught of trick or treaters. I think last year we had a total of 15.



My neighbor has it covered, I think they have every Halloween decoration known to man ...

 

How did it hold up? I think I have a couple in the basement stash?

It’s ok…my buddy and I both liked it better on draught at the brewery in Gainesville.

Last year we got about 10 trick or treaters (and 7 live within two houses or less from mine).

The heat unfortunately ratcheted up into the upper 80s today, and in the bright sunshine it is hot right now. Oh well, I have Halloween bandanas for the dogs, and I’m Santa on Vacation (again). I got Almond Joys this year, and I’m sure there will be leftovers. I rarely eat candy, but I do like that one. Cheers y’all!

 

Time for some Tick or Treating and neighborhood partying (i feel like Halloween things might be in decline, but our neighborhood is absolutely crazy tonight).
