None on their site or the IG post that I could find.

Went for 4 cans. Phenom Rye easily rivals some of the SP/Shared stouts I’ve had.

If any of y'all are willing to trade one of those Phenom cans, send me a DM. I'll be out for anniversary weekend at SP.

SP BBT Rye on the left, Modern Phenom Rye on the right. Really splitting hairs, but the velvety texture (and price) of the Phenom makes it the winner for me.

Looks like walk-in availability for Phenom Rye is at least 2 cases per day. At least 1.5 still available now. Not sure on limits.

Is this circulating pretty well in MO in trade markets? Still available on site?

I haven't had a pulse (have I ever?) on the trade market in awhile. I finally got Rye BBT ('22, all thanks to a local mule), and wouldn't mind doing a side-by-side for the occasion with Phenom.

I haven't been to Modern since the weekend, but their draft menu doesn't list it anymore.

Trade market... I'm crap with values, but I saw it move a lot as a solid plus to land bigger beers. Not a ton of 1:1, which probably isn't unusual for a 12oz can.

The major change seems to be that the Cardinals are kinda bad.

I'm a White Sox fan, so a) I dont have a horse in the race and b) my team is immeasurably worse than than yours over the last (next?) 50 years.

Speaking of 2nd Shift, anyone know how far in advance you can put an order in there and still pick up?

I've done a week out before for a member pickup when it was seemingly more strict. Worst case, email and ask. Their staff are just about the nicest people ever.

And assuming you're ordering the newest LSDs, don't sleep on their Oktoberfest beer. I think it's the best in STL.

I'll say this a bit in different cities but I appreciate this thread. Trying to put together a trip i've been trying to do for the last couple of years. Right now I'm working on St. Louis being Sunday-Monday. No matter how I set this trip up against my constraint I make life tough and I'm putting down a big restriction on my trip (Scratch Brewing to start sunday which puts me a ways out of town). Either way I appreciate the leads. Looks like "packed sunday" then hit the bigger boys on Monday after a ballpark tour and prioritize local food that day.

Balkan Treat Box is not open on Sunday or Monday. Just trying to help you avoid the intersection of shock and massive disappointment.

interesting. I'm a megawuss when it comes to food (I don't know if I'll like it, risk averse) and I'm more interested in americana chasing what I'm sure as seen as banal things. Only things I have lined out for food is "St louis style pizza" and "toasted ravoli". I've seen people knock st louis ribs as "not really a thing" and save the hardcore BBQ for one day in kansas city (tuesday).

I'm similar with beer to a degree, I am not fond of the innovations so I don't chase high level IPAs and sours. Now with beer I will try them but still not fond. So I'm not a complete uncultured pillock.

I'm looking at scratch because a friend of mine is fond of them and I do know I need to explore and learn more of that side of life/reality. Maybe the same thing with food? Dunno. I'm a weird one.

Mostly I'm seeing I will have to leave out one or two local favorite breweries due to time restrictions. Its a week long swing through what I'd call the lower midwest. DC to L'ville to STL to KC to Indianapolis to Cincy and back.

S: Scratch, (2 hour drive), Perennial, Civil, Urban Chestnut.
    M: (Ballpark Tour), Schlafly, 4 Hands, ?

I was doing some google map research on "?" because I can filter by open days. Nothing clear and there's a thought i jump earlier to Columbia MO for Logboat. I may play that on the fly based on local chatter. May also play the "random, small, why not" card on that one. Side Project being missing is intentional, their list doesn't do it for me.

I was mostly kidding, but Balkan Treat Box is amazing in my book. We tried to go twice (consecutive days) the last time I was in STL.

Grace Meat + Three is fantastic too.

Scratch is super fun. Neat location and their brewing process is so unique. Old school kettle over open fire. Their ingredients are locally sourced/foraged. With that being said their offerings are usually hit/miss for me. I'll really dig maybe 50% of what they have.

Make sure you go to the Schlafly location in Maplewood, for your visit. Also maybe try to sneak in 2nd Shift brewing. Good call on hitting Civil Life.

    Enjoy!

I should have replied to this sooner but its itching me now because i'm getting closer? Why Maplewood for Schlafly? Not against it. More that I like hitting the authentic location but I'm willing to listen.

Basically because it's close to other breweries. Modern, 2nd shift, urban chestnut. The other location is more downtown. Its neat as well, just seems Maplewood would better suite your needs

Modern has a couple of gems right now.

Encore is a cruelly dangerous triple IPA. Pillowy soft.

Also, I’m a BIG fan of their single hop series. Latest is Oops! All Simcoe. No joke. Hawaiian Punch.

And… Wellspent continues to kill it.

…as does Civil Life. Burton On Holt!

How is the Modern Brewery & The Kings Oak?

I'll be staying close after Zwanze Day. Based on how I'm feeling after Zwanze Day, I'm tempted to walk down there and get some food and a beer. Maybe divert and go the long way around Forest Park on my way there. Probably best for me to leave Maplewood so I don't close down Side Project Cellar afterwards, lol

Otherwise - what Thai restaurants in the area would people recommend? Any near Civil Life?

Anyone else headed to Zwanze Day at SP?
