Recently dumped Ommegang Everything Naughty and Boulevard Cinnamon Bun Ale. I probably could have choked the Ommegang down but the Boulevard was just awful. I wanted to try new stuff and generally like both breweries but unfortunately it doesn't always work out.

Had a SUPER flat Iroquois pale ale in lake George NY. Drank it but if I was home I’d have thrown it right in the tradh

Second Chance 8th anniversary IPA, I think it was called something like Dawg Daze, it was awful. 3 different days I opened a can, all undrinkable (diacetyl nasty) so I threw out the unopened 4th can.

I remember getting a 4 pack of Ochakoviskiy Kvass via Amazon. Intrigued to try the style. This lasted about 8ozs, the remaining 56ozs went down the drain. More recently, I grabbed a well out of date single bottle of Vichenaar. Did not age well, pure vinegar. Probably cleaned the drain for me.

Have had a lot of subpar beers over the years, many of which I sort of expected (bud select 55, natural light, etc). However, it's more than a bit annoying when you pay a pretty penny for a beer that turns out to be undrinkable. With that in mind, Mikkellers "black" was a revelation to me. Hot, unbalanced, and with a level of sweetness that made me want to gag, this disgusting beer is a stand out.

Here's how to do it, in case any gentle souls need help. This Double Hopnosis from Firestone Walker seemed like a good idea, but that slightly spoiled citrus taste, the eye-watering bitterness, and general muck was too much for me.

I do my best to not drain pour beers but sometimes it's inevitable. Sure, I can save it for cooking or for other purposes but in my experience only certain types/styles of beer are suitable for these backup uses.

Taking pity on the garbage disposal by using a bucket (and then the toilet?)?! You must be a really nice guy.

I've had just a couple drain pours over the years. Typically even if I don't necessarily like the beer, I'll power through it to see if I can at least get the point the brewer was trying to get across and pick it apart in my own mind to see if there's anything I appreciated. With that being said, the two beers that come to mind that I absolutely did NOT like was Founders Gruit and Transient Old Fashioned Buckley.

Maybe that "drain pour" was destined for the compost?? Probably a good idea!

I just couldn’t convince myself that Founder’s Cranfather was worth drinking. I get what they were going for, but it didn’t work for me. First drain pour in a while.

Actually, that's the intent. I think some of these NEIPAs could kill a rose bush. And someone needs to do some science on whether slugs and snails have developed a taste for hops in recent years.

Well I’ve been thinking about this one all day. The only beer that I’ve ever poured out really wasn’t a beer. It was Pabst Blue Ribbon’s Hard Coffee. Coffee’s good. Beer’s good. Combine them and they should be good, right? Wrong. Drank half a can and pored the rest on the ground. Absolutely vile cough syrup. Actually, I’d rather drink NyQuil as it tastes better. Thankful that it didn’t give me a liquid BM the next morning!

In the early 70s we prepared a beer-theme breakfast for some friends. One of our offerings was coffee using heated Ballantine Ale as the liquid to make the drip coffee. I don't have a great recollection of the concoction, except that it was definitely drinkanble. Pabst owns Ballantine nowadays; they should have contacted me for the recipe.

I've always heard that it's the yeast that ropes the slugs in to begin with, so neipa sludge should be like a slug bait concentrate!

The proper way to combine beer and coffee is to drop a shot of espresso in an Old Rasputin. Although @moodenba 's approach is very interesting

Now I could try that! @moodenba your way sounds a lot better than the way PBR did their coffee-beer. If I recall I think that PBR actually contracted the brewing out.

Really, was it very old? This started showing up in my local supermarket and is one of my go to beers.

Maybe the Double Hopnosis was just old. The price was certainly right, and I have never actually had a Firestone Walker beer that I didn't like. More research called for; but from another place and with a date on the can.

As I’ve gotten older, and have gained a little weight as my metabolism slowed down, I’m much more likely to drain pour.

Beer could be perfectly good, and I just don’t like it. Drainpour.

Life’s too short for beer you don’t like, and I don’t want to waste my liquid calories on something I don’t enjoy.
