Thanks for the extended weekend @Roguer ! I went to the brewery to pick up my allotments plus add-ons and tried these two new releases last night (my reviews linked below):
To complete the pre Veterans Day trilogy is this Baltic Porter.

    Revolution Witches Cloak

Revolution Brewpub Notes: $7 HH 13 oz draft, 8.6% ABV, Baltic Porter.

Appearance: Dark brown black base, creamy tan head leaves razor thin lacing and creamy cover. Looks great. 4.5

    Aroma:
Dark roast slightly smokey malt, milk chocolate and fudge, like a hot fudge sundae with nuts. Medium plus strength, high enjoyment. 4.25

    Taste:
Sharper flavors, sweet fudge, caramel and toffee balanced by a nice Smokey malt which complements well. Fudge reigns supreme. 4.5

    Mouthfeel:
Gentle faint carbonation, sweet overall, drinks at ABV level. Creamy medium plus body, faintly dry, light smokey bitterness lingers, sweet fudge finish. 4.5

    Overall:
This is a solid Porter, strong and assured, really enjoyable fudge and nice Smokey malt my two take always. May get another this trip, hope it returns down the road. May favorite of the three new to me beers I’ve tried at Revolution the past 24 hours. 4.5

Will have a few more here, but covered the full board at this stage. I’ll return tomorrow for my regularly planned Massachusetts new to me brewery duo for the weekend.

Thanks to @Roguer for kicking of the NBW thread and thanks to the Veterans for your self sacrifices! This beer is courtesy of @Mikexw as part of the Barleywine/Stout BIF#1 crazy train i have been part of for the past month! Mike has sent two mystery beers for the Barleywine and Stout styles, one being canned and one in a bottle. I have selected the can for today. Onto the review...

Upon popping the can that has been sitting in 69 degree room temps for the past two hours, i immediately got BBA Barleywine on the nose.

Beer poured murky brown with a nice tan head with the original pour - 4.25.
Nose is giving me notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and of course bourbon - 4.25.
Taste is a very large malt base that is giving notes of brown sugar, carmelized malts, some figs, vanilla, and of course a large dose of bourbon barrel treatment. Finishes with a citrusy hop bite and a belly warming with each sip that suggests i am dealing with a very strong beer here. This is incredibly well balanced - 4.5.
Mouthfeel comes across as medium to large bodied and very smooth - 4.25
Overall i really like this aggressively hopped and fresh barrel American Barleywine - 4.25!
And it turns out this beer is the 2022 DD Cask edition that comes in at a whopping 15.7%.
That explains the belly warming and head spinning nature with each sip LOL!
Mike, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to try this beer!
    Cheers!
    Tom

For the love of god, get your glass further away from the edge of that table from now on!!

That photo makes me so nervous!!

By no means new to me, but my first time reviewing it - didn't realize ABInbev had picked up Bosteels - setting that information aside, I still enjoyed this ale quite a bit...cheers!

Best before May, 2024 - enjoyed on November 10th, 2023. Poured from a caged-and-corked 750mL bottle into my Westvleteren chalice.

Lightly cloudy (initially) Naples yellow body supports a dense cosmic latte cap. Fine sticky lacing; excellent retention. Clarity improves as the beer warms/settles.

Yeast-forward aromatics - bread dough, pear, coriander/anise, and orange blossom. Spicy, floral, and inviting.

Flavors follow the nose but are much more potent. Sweet, malty, with a mild but lasting grassy bitterness. Complex and faintly tart with a medium-dry finish with hints of pear brandy.

Sticky, medium-bodied, with full carbonation. Alcohol forward, but not excessive.

Rating to style, this remains one of the best commercial examples.

Have fond memories of a post dinner birthday celebration for my brother and popping a 750ml bottle, pouring a bit for my Mom and Dad who were in their late 70's at the time, my wife, Sister in law, me, and of course my bro - it was sublime and i think it enhanced his special day!
    Cheers!

I read Cellarmaker used malt from Highland Park in brewing this one - very cool concept, might have to pick one of these up while I have the chance.

[IMG] So, after starting with a “King Kong” of a beer, I thought that I should downshift! The dilemma that I encountered is: of all of the new beers sent to me from @ronricorossi , the “lightest “ is this glorious 11% dinger from Great Notion, “Double Stack” Imperial Breakfast Stout! Hoofah!

L- Glorious “jet black “ with a thin tan head.

S- I got maple syrup as soon as I cracked open
    the can! Black coffee, too!

T- Maple syrup, black coffee, some buttery batter

F- Moderate mouthfeel. Not too cloying. Some
    tannic coffee dryness.

O- The breakfast of champions! Forget the
    The Wheaties!

My grilling beer courtesy of @beergoot from the Barleywine/stout (best ever) BIF. Perfect for being around smoke on a chilly evening. Dry and roasty with light chocolate sweetness and light, creamy body. Good stuff, this can is disappearing quickly.

Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 10/11/23. Pours a hazy milky yellow with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves thin rings of lace with excellent retention. 5

Aroma is peach, mango, mandarin, passionfruit, and apricot very pleasant. 4.5

Taste follows peach, mandarin, mango, passionfruit, and apricot. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and a 7.5% big flavor but very easy sipping. 4.25

Overall this brewery is killing it in NH. Amazing prices and excellent beer. I highly recommend. 4.5

That is what is starting my Veterans Day Weekend. Thanks to all who served. Cheers all.[IMG]

Well, been looking to try this guy, especially after having this year's OG Mad Elf.
Had my suspicions what with the "Grand Cru" moniker. Thinking sour, or something like that. Was right. The cherries, the cherries! (Nod to Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness).
A little too tart for my palate: this year's OG Mad Elf is much more on point. There is still that background of figs and plums, but a bit too sharp on a chilly eve. However, at 11%, it does get the job done.
Glad I tried, will not re-visit. But for you sour-leaners, this might be right up your alley.

Cross posting: Ok, got my blood drawn today, so now I can tap into some tasties from @Jasonja1474. I opted for a freaky deaky one: Beware of the Moon by Xul and Arkane. It’s reportedly an English BW with cacao nibs, vanilla, and marshmallow. Brewers getting a bit crazy with the English BW adjunct vein, so no idea what to expect here.

Right off the bat, this things screams thick chocolate shake, as in a chocolate shake melted in the glass, then someone added alcohol! If he would have made this a mystery beer, I would have bet any amount of money this was a stout by someone, considering the gooey fudginess and mouthfeel…any amount of money. The cacao nibs are really stellar in this.

Like Martin House does a lot, maybe they made a mistake on the labeling. LOL! Pretty delicious.

This is one that @HIGHPA would surely enjoy, too. He is King Marshmallow! Maybe that doesn’t come off so cool sounding after all, but he loves marshmallow adjuncting!

I let this sit in my Patagonia pouch for about an hour to come to temp to allow any addjunks to blossom.
No glass so can't see color but upon opening a might brown foam puffed up.
Nose is tough..not picking up any sweetness (thank Satan) but there is a deep dark roasted malt perfuming out.
First, second, third, a 2nd opinion and 4th sip have me befuddled.
I wanted to pick up any wild things this guy sent my way in this beer. Myrrh, Coriander , Marshmallow, Lactose , Prune Puree, MRSA ...anything.

The most i can pick up from this is Vanilla and possibly some kind of Nut . My money is on Almonds due to the bitter profile, but that's it.
There's a wonderful roasty/bitter edge to this that i am enjoying and there's hardly any sweetness. So i am really confused here.

    Well,what the heck is it!?!?@?

    crap!!!! i should have known!!!
    No Addjunks
Iron Hill - Russian Imperial Stout
I can drink this by the gallon

    Thanks Sweetumz

A big thanks to @Roguer for kicking us off this weekend, and a deep gratitude for all those that have served to ensure our safety and freedom!

Speaking of @Roguer, I'm getting into one of insane plethora of beers he destroyed my porch with as part of barleywine/stout BIF..

    Brief Notes: Awesome imperial Stout!

    Full Notes:

N med aroma of roast, dark sugars/maple, spices, and pumpkin; pleasant - 4

T a nice roasted malt body carries a combo of pumpkin, maple, vanilla, and spices, well-balanced and quite tasty; light-med alcohol heat as it warms; spices linger in the aftertaste - 4.25

Mf velvety smooth and creamy, med to med full bodied with med-high carb, notable - 4.5

O I'm a sucker for pumpkin stouts and this one doesn't mess around; great balance between the roasty/sweet/spiced elements; outstanding mouthfeel to boot; would definitely have again given the opportunity - 4.25

    4.2/5; +0.5% rDev

Thanks again for the opportunity to try this, Andrew! Cheers, friends :beers:
