I have been wanting to try a Czech Tmavy lager for some time as no one brews them here locally in Knoxville. I got to try one thanks to my Canadian buddy @Coronaeus. This hit the spot and was what I wanted tonight.

The mouthfeel on this was thin and creamy at the same time and it had a nice crispness to it as well. The nose hinted to dark chocolate but with slight coffee roast was there too. The taste was just like the nose with a nice chocolate maltiness with a nice bitter roast backend. There was an ever so slight licorice taste which I enjoyed too.

:joy: I enjoyed that. C'mon man of course I'm gonna send you stuff I think you'd like! I did look at a couple of breakfast cereal stouts but I couldn't pull the trigger. I've been enjoying that stout for 15 years and it hasn't changed at all. Except for going from 750ml cork 'n' cage BS to 4 pack pounders for cheaper. Cheers brother!

Tired Hands Alien Church IPA, 7.0% ABV; 4.34 overall courtesy of @Bhubbard34

Pours a hazy gold with a thumb of cream-colored head. Sheets of lacing & good head retention

S: Tropical fruits, a touch of cattyness, cantaloupes; great nose

T: Grapefruit, pomelo, green melon, limes& a touch pineyness up front, lending some dryness. Some sweet orange sneaks around the grapefruit & pomelo, a little more pine & passion fruit along with dryness as this beer warms up, plus a little pineapple. Finishes a little dry with grapefruit, pine , green melon. passion fruit & a touch of dankness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, good balance

Super solid hazy offering, based on the nose I thought it might be sweeter? Still drank great

Deep, dark brown pour, looks black and opaque in the glass; dense, thick, creamy tan head, sticky. Rich, malty nose; roasted grains and pumpkin; nutmeg and allspice. The taste amplifies the aroma; nice dark malt flavors with elements of dark chocolate and cocoa; pumpkin pie spices; toffee; modest amount of grain char bitterness. Heavy mouthfeel; dense velvety smooth.

The description mentions coffee, which makes sense now that I think of it, but I don't know if coffee was actually used in the making of this beer. Regardless, this is a richly balanced and satisfying porter with a great pumpkin element that doesn't overpower the rest of the beer.

Mystery beer from @beergoot time! I love tasting beer blind, especially at 16% ABV.

Looking at this I'm calling stout. There is enough ruby tinted brown at the edges that there is a 5% chance this is a dark barleywine though.

The head fizzed out quickly but there are enough booze legs here to make this interesting to look at. Nose leans strongly stout too but this is neither the old school roasted char bomb or sugary chocolate cake batter variety. I get molasses (love that quality in a beer), brown sugar, bitter chocolate, mild vanilla, and brown liquor than leans whiskey but could be rum? Smells fantastic.

Taste mirrors the smell but I am leaning a bit more rum barrel now. I'm really like this, everything is coming together extremely well, time to find out what it is!

Welp, I called zero of 3 adjuncts and got the barrel type wrong:flushed: Whatever, Amped Up from 3 Sheeps kicks ass and I'm really glad I got to try it!

It's so interesting how perceptions can change when I know what I'm drinking. This does come across as nutty now rather than rummy. The chocolate seems more pronounced now too.

Thanks for an awesome experience Dave! Our scores are .01 apart

    --------------------------------------------------

...that was a beer from 3 Sheeps' anniversary this year...I originally ordered two Amped Up (plus other beers) to meet what I thought was minimum ordering for shipment to Colorado. Instead, there was no shipping -- it was brewery pickup only. Luckily, I already was heading up to Sheboygan anyway for the brewery bash as well as to hookup with @Danmullens1, @GreenBayBA, @Ocalafox, @DoctorZombies, @ChicagoJ and other BAs...

...I enjoyed Amped Up quite a bit and I'm glad I had the second bottle around to spread the joy...

Hello again, finally got to drink a beer today.
Cross posted with Stout and Barleywines BIF #1.
Poured coffee black with an enthusiastic head. Which almost rules out a high ABV BA beer.
Aroma lost on my Covid damaged nose.
Initial taste revealed a fruity flavor of some sort, raspberry maybe? Sweet though, quite sweet, almost certainly a pastry stout of some sort.
Back in a bit with the reveal.

Hop Butcher’s “Bughouse Square” DIPA with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe & Nelson Sauvin:

Hazy deep gold/apricot juice color with some clarity under mixed bubbles white head; better than ok cap retention; solid ring; soapy lacing. Nose is orange, earthy Simcoe and grape must Nelson hops. Orange, pineapple, semi earthy white grape; firm malt base; no bitterness. Medium light body, moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 7.5% abv; almost soft feel. Overall, a very drinkable HazyLite “DIPA”; plenty of citrus/tropical fruit flavors without being a sweet kid’s juice box, offset by more earthy/musty notes; enjoyable.

    4.25 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 4.5 | 4.5
    Score: 4.43 rDev +2.1%

Sorry I waited all week to try this beer…the bar only got a case; I’ll go back tomorrow and buy more if any are left - Cheers!

Horse & Dragon - Sad Panda Coffee Stout. My brother brought it from Fort Collins down to Albuquerque, where we're visiting our mother for her 71st.

12oz can served in a little mug. Don't see a date on the can.

Pours dark brown with about a centimeter of head. Smell is rich, delicious coffee and chocolate.

Taste is similar, maybe not quite as rich, with a little bit of a creamer sweetness, and more of a nutty vibe.

Mouthfeel is on the thinner side. Overall, this is a pretty good coffee stout that smells great.

Ozarks Vanilla Cream Stout, ( with Madagascar Vanilla ) 5.3% ABV; 3.94 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with 2+ fingers of tan head. Good lacing & head retention

S: Cocoa, plenty of vanilla & a touch smokeyness once warm. Vanilla opens up once warm

T: Sweet cocoa, vanilla, dryness & a touch of roastyness up front, a little bit of coca cola flavor as well. more cocoa, vanilla & dryness as this beer warms up, plus woody hops. Finishes with a little roastyness, vanilla, dryness & a kiss of smoke & a little carob

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation. Becomes a bit prickly once warm

A solid take on the style, but the body needed a little more thickness for me, a touch over gassed. Flavors & nose great, the body needs some work, cuts down on the drinkability

The reveal. Peanut butter cup, or probably more specifically, Reeces Pieces stout.
Where I got raspberries is anybody’s guess, but this is a good pastry stout that I thoroughly enjoyed. Good with the strawberry rhubarb pie I had for dessert.
Thanks @Rug for a tasty mystery!

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip canned on 11/4/23. Pours an attractive slightly hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves webs of lace all over the place. 4

Aroma is dank weed, orange, apricot, and some pine. 4.5

Taste is Mary Jane, orange, apricot, and some pine appears, for my palate anyway. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, gentle carbonation, maybe a tad dry, and at 8% it drinks very easy if those flavors are your thing. The gonja stands out most. 4.25

Overall as a guy that has enjoyed a puff or two over the years, This is diggity dog dank, Snoop would approve. 4.25

Time to drop another big beer in here from the Big Stout and Barleywine BIF!! This is from @Dimidiata Thank you so much for sending me this treat. This is Highland Park Brewery and their 12.7% Chaos into Order Imperial Stout with Cacao nibs, sea salt and marshmallow added to the beer. Glad to have the opportunity to consume and share with y'all!

    onto my review:
Sampling a 500 ml bottle at cellar temp poured into my snifter. The beer pours a very dark chocolate brown color with very short lived tan head frothing up and fading to nothing almost immediately after the pour. No lattice and some "legs" do appear to cling to the glass when I swirl or take a sip.
Aroma is sweet and chocolate up front with some cherry cordial and marshmallow notes mixing together. I believe the cherry note is from marshmallow. Definitely a sweet nose, no fusol booze and certainly no hop profile that I can detect.
First sip reveals a velvety smooth texture and medium to thicker body, with a bit of a sticky coating on my lips and palate after each sip. Definitely a bigger feeling beer and a sipper in my book.
Flavor is hot cocoa powder and sweet chocolate bar, with a good dose of marshmallow sweetness coming in midway and and lingering long after every swallow. Sweetness carries the beer over the finish line and it is 100% marshmallow, no hops, no biting booze finish or warming. Never get anything from the sea salt addition on this beer.
I really enjoyed drinking this beer over the past 90 minutes or so. gotta say the physical traits on this one are VERY nice. Glad to have tried it. Thank you to @Dimidiata for sending this one along!

4 Hands/Southern Grist Voltron Volume Two Fruited Hazy IPA, 7.0% ABV; 3.82 overall

Pours a very hazed & effervescent amber with some floaties & a pinky of beige head. Minimal head retention & lacing

S: A little guava, some passion fruit & green melon, fades a bit once warm

T: Follows the nose, a little dryness & tangerine as well up front. A little pineapple & grapefruit come through as this beer warms up, along with green melon. Finishes with sweet orange, pineapple & a kiss of green melon

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, that tapers off a bit as this beer warms up, balances out alright

Much juicyness, pretty drinkable, but not thinking I would do this as a repeat buy, but fun & worth a try. If everything was as good as the flavor, a much better beer
