Interesting short article from Beervana. Also some other articles centering around Chicago -- current and upcoming.
I’ll wait for @FBarber to properly weigh in. After reading, I following the link to the breaking story about Ecliptic closing. Not another one! https://www.beervanablog.com/beervana/2023/11/8/ecliptic-brewing-brand-sold-brewery-to-close
Atop the medal stand. Flew up from STL a few weeks ago to visit an old friend. Was a cold, rainy miserable Saturday. Didn’t care with this itinerary. Hop Butcher goodness to start. Bad Apple for lunch. Orin & others at Half Acre. Drop in at Spiteful. Sit for a while at Local Option. Love that place. Check out Old Irving. Lotta kids! Capstone at Pequod’s. WOW! And it’s still beautiful… (Pic taken from Milton Lee Olive Park. A beaut) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Lee_Olive_Park
This is gonna sound like homer shit, but I'd personally never trade a place that has both a world-class beer scene AND essentially the best distribution scene in the country(/world) for one that's slightly better locally. Still waiting for places like Treehouse and Alchemist to make it to Chicago lol, but otherwise I'm extremely proud of the way everyone has grown the beer community here.
I think distro in the Twin Cities has improved because of Chicago, not only due to places like Rev, HA, Hop Butcher getting into this market, but also because of proximity to Chicago. Thanks for not being too far (but far enough) away.
