What’s good, Hawaii, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota? Think we need to do some more reviewing of your stouts? (Present company included!)

It comes down to population and number BA members living in (or visiting) the state that review. I reviewed the Woodgrain Milk Stout and scored it 4.18, but it's far from our best. Covert Artisan brewed five of my top-50, all of which I rated over 4.6, and Woodgrain brewed some of my top-100. Most of the good ones are tap-only, and I favor high-octane imperial or BBA imperial stouts.

Interesting. The highest rated stout from Maryland, 1st Meal from RAR, is only 16th overall in the state. There are two stouts rated higher at 15th and 3rd overall but both with less than 100 ratings. Oddly enough I have 1st Meal rated slightly higher than the other two.

In my opinion there are a few better stouts being made in MD that haven't received enough BA attention yet.

After some reflection I've come to the conclusion that we need more stouts and more BAs in Maryland.

Finally got to try Zonker Stout this year and man, one of the few beers that held up to the hype. Good solid every day stout.

I'm not certain I'd still put Perennial's Abraxas as the best in the state anymore, but considering it's been around awhile and is still pretty well received, it's probably difficult to oust it as the 'best' when you consider the volume of ratings it has over others.

Wow. What a heavy duty beer box all those would make! But I'm sure some are tap-only.

IMO, PA is dead on. Sunny Side Up is a beer every craft beer lover should have once in their lifetime.

Only caveat is, it appears the ABV has a wide range per batch. Have seen over 11% and as low as 7.5%.

Something's not working right with the link.

I was looking for a list of the best stouts in each state but it redirected me to garbage pastry listings.

Baptista was outstanding but Epic hasn't brewed it since 2019 so I don't see how thats relevant if you can't buy it anymore.. They could have done little research to see whats actually available

    Is the list posted somewhere?

I’m in VT, and while we have a lot of good IPA’s, stouts are hard to find, especially in summer.
I guess my favorites are Fayston Maple from Lawson’s and Frost BBA Heavy. Alchemist has had some ok stouts and Farmstead always has good quality, but you have to drive up there to get their stouts.

Can’t say I disagree with this one for NJ. Kane’s ANTEAD is fantastic, as are the variants they put out.

Double Barrel Hunahpu shouldn't be on the list either, you can't buy it. It was only brewed twice, 2014 and 2016.

I chimed in with the same thought in regards to the similar IPA thread
My computer/antivirus keeps blocking that site for a bad url which is really weird. Even when I googled the article.
