Look I’m not trying to talk shit about the brewery I like the beer they brew a lot actually. But I have noticed they are high in price to almost everything else I am willing to buy. A stovepipe of Zombie Dust is $5 bucks for example when I can get a stovepipe of like Revolution Anti-Hero for $2.99 some places. I am just wondering does anyone know why they have such a high price tag on there beer or is it just me.

I would say $11 for most six packs and $23 for BA four packs is very reasonable.

I think their prices are in line with craft beer pricing, and I've never seen a stovepipe of Zombie Dust for more than $4.

Dismembers Only is $28 a 4-pack up this way. Most of their six-packs are $13.
I saw 3F prices go up before all other breweries many years ago when craft started catching on. I felt they raised their prices because they were the current "white whale." Thing is (at least in my area), they always seem a couple bucks ahead of all the other breweries. And yeah, I haven't bought their stuff in a long time.

Their pricing has never been that high. Maybe on average $1-2 more per six pack than other breweries? However retailers would often mark it up even higher due to high demand. Though that practice has died down recently.

These days it is in line with most craft breweries that I see. Most likely just a local shop charging more because they can (or think they can).

People have complained for years about their pricing but mostly it was the retailers marking things up, visit the brewery direct and the price is normal.

I pulled the prices from kiosk in Munster, which is where I have bought their beer. I can’t fault the brewery for what a store charges.
Also, Dismembers Only is not very good for any price.

Your being near to the source probably helps pricing.

Dismembers Only is also heavily adjuncted. I think you'd want to compare that pricing to other BA and adjuncted stouts.

If you asked me to come up with a list of overpriced breweries, I don't think I'd ever come up with Three Floyds as an option unless you're talking about Dark Lord related stuff.

So, it's a beer that uses a lot of corn and rice for fermentables? You know that's what adjuncts are?

But so what? I'm just looking at a beer's price on the shelf.

3F is new to Iowa, but I think I paid $15 or $16 for a sizer of Robert the Bruce in Ames over the weekend. And I was happy to do it! :stuck_out_tongue:

At my local liquor store I believe they are $4.99 a stovepipe.

supply and demand would be the primary reason for why they might be charging more than you expect for comparable beers. They want to maximize profit and are taking advantage of their popularity and market share.

Sounds like they are just charging $1 more then. I usually see them for $3.99 around here.

If we're talking stovepipes, I'd rather pay $1-2 more for a Zombie Dust than an Anti-hero, but I just don't like Anti-hero very much. However, I'm not really a stovepipe connoisseur and can imagine there's a lot of price sensitivity in that market.

Must be why Rolling Rock was premium-priced while most all the other big Pennsylvania brands (Iron City, Schmidt's, Stegmaier, Ortlieb, etc) were popular-priced or economy brands - Latrobe used both corn and rice.
Twice as many adjuncts = $$$!

I just used it as an example. I think even just six packs of Zombie Dust at my local liquor store is $15 bucks which is crazy to me

This speaks less about the brewery’s pricing and more about how you are getting fleeced by retailers without having a clue.

FFF charging $23 for 48oz of high quality barrel aged beer is ridiculous. All their competitors charge $30 for $32oz of their ba beers. Undercutting that much should be illegal, but I am not going to complain about a bargain. People bitching about FFF beers being high because retailers jack them up well over what FFF charges need to go and bitch about BCBS and all the Chicagoland hoppy beer makers first. Zombie Dust out of the brewery is literally cheaper than anything to go on a price per oz basis at Half Acre…

I would agree back before they moved to four 16 oz cans from the 22 oz bomber. Would rather pay $18 for a four pack than the prior $14 bomber of things like dreadnaught and PF. Now seems in line with similar offerings from others.

$15 is the going rate for Zombie Ice where I shop. Compared to Half Acre and others in that tier it seems fair to me.
