2023 Illinois Brewery Opening / Closure Thread

Surprised/not surprised that no one has mentioned that Steam Hollow, infamous for their tinfoil hat wearing co-owner’s conspiracy theories, is closing at the end of the year.

Bye Felicia! The chaff is being separated from the wheat.

Just heard this news and swung by to mention it.

 

Screw this brewery. They have a billboard on 57N near the area. Thought about their insanity everytime I drive by it and would say something along the lines of, "Never go to or drink a beer from that place," to my wife.

That was a fun trip down memory lane. Again, screw them. Hope this was a slow, painful nail in their businesses coffin.

I heard from someone who visited last night that they're estimating mid-December for the reserves to run out.

 

Punk Rock Pizza and Brewery in Silvis, IL. has pushed back their opening from the beginning of 2024 to spring 2024. They do have a sign up finally, and work is being done on the interior.

 

Not Illinois but NWI: Viking Artisan Ales announced they are closing their taproom. They suggested they want to continue to produce but TBD

 

Weird the whole IN Weiss thing didn't work out. Who could've seen that coming...

 

Aside from the brewery in Munster and a few others. it seems that Indiana is where brewers go to be humbled and close in a year or two. … We can also argue about whether Viking’s product actually constitutes beer. It was reprehensible.
