[IMG] Giving some love to this brewery that gets very little attention 603 Brewery. The Mitz series is always a treat and they take extra care, aged for 18 months and the price feels like a steal for the quality.

Poured into a 20 oz tulip glass bottled late 2023. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a finger plus mocha head that leaves little if any lace. 4.5

Aroma starts with vanilla beans and clearly the star, but the woody bourbon lends a nice hand. Back strap molasses, coffee grounds, and deep dark chocolate. 4.5

Taste follows vanilla, cocoa, coffee, molasses, and a healthy shot of bourbon in the lingering finish. 4.5

Mouthfeel is slightly above average, soft gentle carbonation, a tad dry, and at 11.9% it goes down very easy. 4

Overall this really well made, if I wanted to change anything it could use a bigger body and better retention so it leaves a little lace. 4.25 Sleep well all.

Good evening fellow beer advocates! Tonight I am drinking a beer sent to me by @Bishop in a trade - and channeling @Dimidiata ”On Sunday’s we drink barleywine”

Sheer malt forward tastiness. Yea, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Apricot was present and subtle, but definitely there. The brandy barrels provide an excellent accent to the apricot, And it all comes together really nicely.
The feel was ideal for the style and ABV, lightly viscous with minimal carbonation.
Very nice, I could drink these every Sunday!

Tonight I bring you a Tis the Season Smoked Porter from Tree House Brewing. This is an 8.2% robust porter.

    onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. There is no date stamp on my can, which is weird for TH. I picked it up at the brewery sometime in the past 8 months. Been waiting to open it for no particular reason.
the beer pours a dark cola brown and rests slightly darker in the glass. A fizzy dense tan head of 1 cm foams up from the pour. this foam fades to a super thin edge layering soon after the pour and leaves the faintest lacing on swirls or sips from the glass.
Aroma is dark malts, and chocolate with a solid dose of smoked wood and burnt notes. Not quite smoked sausage degree, but definitely charred wood and ash. No hint of any hops at this point and the ABV is hidden too.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and very fine tingly carbonation. Beer drinks very easy on physical traits.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted malts and dark chocolate, but then allows some smoked wood and ash to come through and this flavor lingers after each swallow. The hops are absent and again no hint of the booze in this beer.
A nice solid porter that delivers on the smoked promise without being totally one dimensional. I enjoy this one and am glad to have purchased this can.

Here's another Oktoberfest: High Brau from Torch & Crown Brewing in the Bronx. Rather sweet and tastes like Hawaiian sweet bread, simple and malty. This starts with caramel and then has that odd gummy finish of a Doppelbock.

Goose Island - Bourbon County Brand Sir Isaac's Stout.

500ml bottle served in a little snifter. 29 AUG 24.

Pours black, syrupy, small thin ring of head with a small, thin, uniform island in the middle. Smell is booze, bourbon, vanilla, sticky toffee pudding. Sweet.

Taste is intense. Sweet, boozy, tons of figgy fruit, some vanilla and black licorice. Dark, almost burnt coffee.

Mouthfeel is thick, silky, creamy. Overall, very nice.

how old was the bottle? I drank a bunch of this, it seems like almost about 2 years ago. Maybe the apricot faded. I liked it but 1 bottle a week was enough
